Was there last June. No shortage of fish in the bay or surf. Caught lots of sharks in the surf (4' and under). Caught specks, reds, flounder and black drum on artificial and live bait. Good luck.

Shrimp, frozen or alive seems to work best at the inlet. Unless of course you catch your own bait there and fish it live. That’s always your best option. I only fish lures, but will occasionally fish frozen shrimp.

I haven't been to Okeechobee lately, however I have always done pretty well in the Monkey Box on the west side of the lake and if the wind is bad, the rim canal is usually good, just look for grass or visible or differences in structure.
Thank you. Hoping I don't get skunked again this year. Even if I don't catch I still love going out.
Thank you again for your advice.

Hi John. I'm just starting to get back into fishing as much as I can.....haven't made it to the bay as of yet. BUT.....the grass flats behind Johnson's Beach (on Perdido Key) have been producing some nice trout and reds!
Please let me know how you do. I will be heading out there in a few weeks as well. Watch out for the rocks. I have had to get out and walk the boat back to deeper water. Good luck and tight lines
has anyone fished "rodman's reservoir" for bass recently? thank you.

Fished Rodman about 3 weeks ago. Caught 2 bass, one on a whopper plopper and the second on a crank bait. Also caught a blue cat and pickerel on crank baits. Tried plastics but no bites that day with them.
First time at Big O was with a guide and it was all about shiner fishing with circle hooks. Boring fishing but does produce (potentially) big fish. It was edges, clumps depending which way and how hard the wind was blowing then and days previous. Oh, the guide said: If you fall over don’t drown trying to swim. Just stand up! 😂
Good luck.
thanks, guys; we usually fish the canal with 8" and 9" black and dark blue worms on 20# test line and the stump field with whopper ploppers, lunker lures and of course, shiners. and we always catch the more prominent bass on shiners using 20# - 30# test line. good fishing and tight line to all.
