Can't help you but I'm listing. I'm going out there next month.
Kimobig: Im sorry, I live too far away and have never fished there. I suggest you hire a guide for 1/2 day to fish the area where you want to fish. That is the best way to learn what and how to fish the area, baits, everything. Just Sayin....RJS

Arizona is a big state. There is plenty of fishing opportunities but you have to be willing to drive a bit. If you look at a map, you can break it down into quadrants. So narrow things down to what species, location, boat or shore. if I had a choice for April & May I would try Alamo, Roosevelt, Powell, Lee's Ferry, not in any order. RJS has the right idea: figure out where you want to go and hire a guide to show you the ropes. I fished in Arizona for 40+ years before I move to Oklahoma.
If you're fishing Arizona, you
have a lot of choices, so you
need to be more specific - what
is your target species ?
If you're primarily a bass fisherman looking for BIG bass, you have a few options within
a 2-hr. drive of the city, like Saguaro or Canyon lakes, or you can try this - there is a small, private lake (about 60 acres) in Buckeye that was opened to the public just this past January you may want to consider ! Buckeye
is only about 40 minutes south- west from downtown Phoenix,
and the lake is just a few minutes south of town; the lake is being
developed as a trophy-bass destination ! There is a daily fee, and bass fishing is catch-and -release, artificial lures only - NO LIVE BAIT (for bass) ! Hidden
Lake also holds some pretty big catfish, decent-sized black crappie, carp, sunfish and
tilapia ! The bass, crappie, and 'sunnies' are all catch-and-
release, but you can keep any
of the other species ! Quite a
few bass in the 5- to 8-lb. range have already been caught, including several exceeding
10-lbs. !
So far, fishing is limited to week-ends and during any of their special events - again, this is
a pay-by-the-day location , so reservations are highly recommended, as chance of
entry is pretty slim without one !
If interested, further information
can be had from their website
at hiddenlakeaz.com, including photos of some impressive-sized bass and catfish !

I'm right on the Mesa/Gilbert line
in the East Valley - I prefer to hit the 'Rim' lakes for trout, and would like
to try for pike and walleye out of several lakes in the area as well !
I have fished a couple of small
lakes in the Alpine area, such as Hulsey Lake (in the shadow of Escudilla Mtn.) and Blue Lake in
Alpine ! Have you ever fished Silver Creek ? If so, what useful info can
you tell me about it, as I'm considering it as a 'bucket list' location ?
