I've noticed that powered yaks are becoming very popular, but the prices of major brands are pretty high. I looked at an Old Town Autopilot, and while very nice, close to $4,000. I'm not in the market (don't have the balance for it), but have been looking anyway. Bass Pro just came out with a package deal on their 13footer, with a Powerdrive Minn Kota, 5"Hook² fishfinder, and a deepcycle battery for $2,000. If you're in the market, check them out.

Great deal but sadly I don't have the balance anymore either. If I did that may interest me.

Thanks for sharing Fred. Be nice if they included a trailer too. Wishful thinking! 😂😉

They have floats that sit on both sides of your yak. I'll let you know know with pics how well they work soon.

It is fairly easy to convert a Harbor Freight trailer to carry a kayak. I have been thinking of selling my fishing kayak. It is getting too heavy. I will be 81 in a couple of weeks. Did catch 4 stripers on it yesterday. Small but tasty.
If I wanted a motor I would look at a square stern canoe. It would take gas or electric. Outriggers are easy to make and attach. PVC pipe and pool noodles.

Fin, are you DIY or purchase ones? I’m looking at making a set of pontoon style for my Yak and have looked at a bunch of options.

Keep in mind if you power a kayak it needs numbers and a yearly sticker.

Just looked at them, they are already Out of Stock and not taking back orders, the site said to save the SK# and check back to see when it will be back in stock.

Yeah Ruff, it seems like an excellent deal, since they get $1050 for the boat alone. No doubt it will be in demand for quite a while. Also of note is the fact that their yaks are made in USA.
They are continuing the path they took with boats, turnkey package, could be fishing the same day you buy it.

I made a single pontoon out of plastic 1 gal paint buckets I glassed together. Workes great but to cumbersome for me a haul with my electric bike so I bought on Ebay a set of inflatables that attach across the yak. Easier to transport. Don't know about stability yet. My problem is getting in & out of the yak. Pic of home made.

I think it looks great probably will have it in my dreams tonight but I should know better. Since you can't get one because of the stock issue I guess I won't have to worry about it.
