Had to chop some holes in the ice in the small creek where the cows drink first time it’s been froze this winter but it was 6* this morning

I'll bet that was fun, Mike. Why do you have all of the fun?

I've been chopping ice on the ponds in NE Texas all week. Not fun and a bit dangerous for the livestock. We've heard several reports of cows and horses falling through the ice this week. We're keeping the horses up in the paddock and hauling buckets of water to them. Hopefully we won't have any cows go in as the ice melts this week.

I have a pond but I got a fence around it to keep the cows out because of that I’m lucky I have the small creek for them to drink from

Well, we always had an axe handy to chop a hole in the ice for the cattle to drink. We'd just leave the axe there until the winter weather was over. Just Sayin...RJS
