At eighty I find a half hour watching my Springer go nuts chasing a tennis ball I can't throw very far any more and watching him jump over big waves and for a while I'm a kid again. Then while catching him so we can go home reality sets in. He seems to know when the last throw of the day is and he doesn't want to leave the beach. Usually I have to have someone else catch him by the collar. He will go to anyone but me when it's time to go home.

A “training collar” really improves their hearing...🐟on

I was scheduled for hernia surgery in 2 wks. Told the wife I'd found a pup and we drove 100 miles to get her. She be 3 in July n my truck rarely leaves the driveway without her. If it was up to her I'd never leave without her. I don't need meds or therapist. I've got my family my dog n my boat. Life is good

My lab is the same way. All she has to hear is “get in” that includes the boat...🐟on

Mauwehu when i met my wife she had a dog. About 18months later we had to put the old boy down. I got her a pup for Christmas. She was 12 when we lost her. I said no more. 2 months later i came home to a new pup. Wife said the girls got her for us. Couple yrs later it came out. The 3 of them went to pick her out. I tried not to like that dog but it didn't work. At the age of 10 we had to put her down. Happened on a Monday evening. Tue morn at 330 am i woke up n new i needed a dog inmy life

My wife’s grandfather who I claimed as my own wouldn’t go a day without a dog. He’d always say “I can’t go a day without a dog “ and he didn’t. if his dog died today he’d have a new one by tomorrow. Miss that guy but funny enough not his dog.

I can't remember ever not having a dog except for 3 years in the army. When my life with the dog sadly ends I write a story complete with every single thing I can remember about him (always a him) that way I never forget and over time can read about what I loved in him. The last 3 were yellow lab 13 years yellow lab 14 years and now my second Springer Spaniel. My wife says I have a inner connection with dogs, my dog, your dog, any dog. Once I was in town and a pick up had 2 large coon hounds in the bed. I walked across the street and got to know them and the guy ran out of the store and yelled what are you doing I said admiring your dogs he just whistled and said they should have never let you near this truck and they were kissing you I can't believe it. See they are chained so they can't get out. I have never seen them do that with a stranger. I love them all.

I know what you mean. I don't own a dog now but have always had a connection with animals.
Years ago when I lived in Tahoe and use to cut my own firewood and had a tree business, I had a chainsaw man. I always bought my chainsaws from him and had him service them also.
One year I needed to drop my chainsaw off at his house on my way back into town so I stopped by his place to drop my saw off. My Mom was out for the summer and was with me.
As we pulled up to his house his dog came out to meet us and was all bristled up,barking and growling.
Well Don wasn't home and I really needed to leave my saw there so I wrote out a note and started to get out of the truck.
My Mom grabbed my arm and ask me what I was doin, so I told her I needed to leave my saw there. Well she said I couldn't get out of the truck with that dog acting like that.
I told her that it would be alright that I knew the dog from all the times I had been there.
She said, well Don has always been here with you before.
Anyway, I needed to leave the saw so I got out of the truck.
Well that dog came up to me growling and barking at me and I just calmly talked to him and told him I understood he was suppose to protect the place and I wasn't goin to do any harm to him or the place.
I walked up to the door and left my note there and then got my saw out of the truck and walked out to the shop door and left it on the ground. The dog was right there the whole time barkin and growlin.
I then went back to my truck, got in and left.
Later that evening, Don called me at home and said he got my saw and talked to me about it.
First thing he ask me was where was his dog. I told him the whole story and he just couldn't believe it.
He said that dog has NEVER let anyone out of their truck before and he ask me if the dog bit me.
I laughed and said the dog didn't bite me BUT he made it very clear that he didn't like me getting out of my truck.
Well Don couldn't believe that the dog let me get out of my truck to begin with much less walk up on his deck and put a note on his door AND then go out to his shop door and leave my saw.
I just laughed and told him that the dog was there barkin and growling the whole time letting me know that he didn't like it at all. Don still just couldn't believe it.

It's amazing what animals know and feel.

Thru out my life I've had many dog's. Labs coon hounds shepherd several collie shepherd mix one collie malamute mix great dog. Many plain ole farm dog's. 1st pup i bought my wife was a miniature schnauzer. Loyal n extremely protective especially when in my truck. She wouldn't let anyone approach her. She'd go to them if n when she was ready. 2nd one pretty much the same. The 3rd one i got for me. What a handful. As soon as i picked her up she was in my face. Layed on wifes lap for the 129 mile ride home. Soon found out she luvs everyone n everything. She luvs attention n playing. Honestly I've never had a bad dog.

I will soon be 89 years young! I have fly-fished on the Gunnison River in Colorado, also many years on the PM in Michigan, and many many years on lots of rivers in Ohio and Indiana, and many fishing days in Mountain Home Arkansas, always wading in chest-high waders.

Needless to say, that kind of fishing is no longer possible for me. My balance is bad but, since moving to Florida, I have a lake I can still fly fish. I have learned to fly fish sitting on a lawn chair with no real problems. I am still catching largemouth bass with no difficulty at all. They are all released to fight again.

Don't give up guys there is hope in the future!!!!

Ya got to be careful with fishing. I taught a lady friend to fish and she became quite good at it and a fanatic. We hooked up, which was a BIG mistake because she ended up taking me for about 1.75 mil, but even worse was she absconded with most of my fishing gear but left me with my favorite rod ( which she didn't like ). Moral of the story is don't teach a woman to fish. Get one that already fishes.

Be careful taking potassium, you can take too much. A blood test showed that I was over the stand amount. And that’s not good...🐟on

That is true with many vitamins and minerals. One has to look at what each supplement has to ascertain the total amount they are ingesting. Most over the counter national brands keep the single tablet doses at a safe level, however, some people think that if a little is good a lot is better. Not so in this case.

A spin off from what Odino said. I made the mistake with "Max Libido". It raised my blood pressure so high that I lost some vision.

Glad the thread is still going because I forgot to mention this about doses. Herbal medicines are used by many people but they really don’t know much about the product they are ingesting. Plants produce various chemical components and the amount of any given component varies greatly with the growing conditions and even the particular strain of the plant. Example is capsaicin in peppers. When grown in hot conditions with minimal water the plants make more capsaicin than when they get more water or live in a cooler climate. The upshot of this is that a given amount of active ingredient may be helpful at one level and fatal at another. There is seldom any information regarding the amount of active ingredients in herbals used for medical purposes. The desired component may very from none to too much so it is always user beware.
