I personally have never carried alcohol on my boat or consumed before a trip.
Obviously safety concerns but additionally , when I’m fishing , I’m there for a purpose , to find and fool fish into letting me catch them.
To me , drinking and fishing are exclusively separate activities.
Now after I’m done ... that’s a different situation

alcohol and motor boats do not mix well
I have a small boat —- no drinking on my boat
it depends who you are fishing with. Some times you cannot be chemically free to have a good time.

Well said. Couldn't agree more.
I fish 60 to 100 miles off shore. On any given day something can go wrong in a second. All saltwater fish are built to hurt you somehow. Something happens that far out you had better know how to react to save your butt or a buddies. There is no 911. The only alcohol on the boat is the bottle we carry to trade with the shrimp boats. Back at the dock, boat on the lift and clean, fish cleaned and bagged. Then it’s time for a cold one.
Nothing wrong with drinking and fishing as long as you have a sober driver to each his own I don't judge a guy that does or doesn't drink
Not an issue for me. I haven't had a drink since 1983. Don't need it or want it.

People have different ideas in terms of the definition of drinking, I put a couple bottles of water, a few cans of soda, and a couple of higher end tasty beers. I can take it or leave it, it's whatever sounds good at the time. I'm not going to even get a buzz off of two beers, and lately I've stopped drinking soda and drink water so as to not get dehydrated. Toward the end of a day a Porter might start sounding good, if it's cold not so much.
I wouldn't want someone "drinking" on my boat, I'd be of a frame of mind to refrain...heads off potential problems, I've known too many ornery drinkers, nicest guys you'd ever want to know until they get a few beers in them, then it's Jekyll and Hyde time.

Seem like a decent survey.
There's always beer on ice in my boat cooler.
There's a little slot just for the pint of Maker's Mark or tequila, right next to the fire extinguisher and first-aid kit, for "a slug or two" for whoever is catching the first fish.
Adult beverages require adult behavior. Moderation is expected of adults, regardless of venue, be it boat, camp, home, party, whatever.
IF....in your adulthood, you haven't determined what and how much you can consume without becoming a hazard to yourself or others.... It's highly doubtful that you have been invited to fish with me, anyway....I pick my "buddies" carefully.
Judgemental ? .... probably more like scrupulous... but at 67, if not now, at just what age would you like it to be allowed ?
Y'all do what you like/want, but I WILL give my passengers untold grief if they bring some of the horrible brews some have mentioned here !...I certainly don't drink that "Rocky Mountain pi$$water" or "light" anything..... waste of water and hops, imo.
I would certainly abide by anyone's boat rules, when on YOUR boat, but it's an exercise in futility to try to convince me that beer and fishing should ever be considered as two "unrelated activities".
Sorry...guess I just eliminated many potential "fishin' buddies"....so be it.
To each his own, in their own fashion.....meet ya' at the ramp and we can discuss our "fun day at the lake", okay ?
