I know a lot of guys that enjoy drinking a few cold ones while fishing. I don’t knock this and I’m not judge mental of any that do.
I personally have never carried alcohol on my boat or consumed before a trip.
Obviously safety concerns but additionally , when I’m fishing , I’m there for a purpose , to find and fool fish into letting me catch them.
To me , drinking and fishing are exclusively separate activities.
Now after I’m done ... that’s a different situation

What are some of your thoughts

Ben: I agree with you completely. True story, I was having a fishing party with my Louisiana district in the Atachaflia basin. We had two or three boats, and having a grand time. Also having some liquid refreshment, I almost ran over a tree trunk due to slow reactions from having consumed a bit of wine beforehand. I do not know if it would have been differfent had I not had anything to drink. but from that time on, I do not drink while driving. Just Sayin...RJS

Always time for a cold one when you get back home. I'm with you 100%. Too many boating accidents involving "one too many."

My oldest son after spending 8 years in Marine Corps and another 4 in Florida finally moved close to home . We decided on a fishing trip.
Picked him up and first thing he put in boat was a 12 pack.
Asked him if it would be ok if we left it in the truck.
He seemed a little put out.
My boat , my rules.

I'm sure he survived the length of time you were fishing without the beer.

I'm with you all the way, when i had my boat i didn't allow any alcohol on board until we made it back to the dock after the trip, when we get back y'all could get what you want as long as my boat got cleaned. I was a drinker too and couldn't risk the chance of loosing my boat license and driver license as well, i have quit drinking since then but i still believe if you take you fishing seriously you shouldn't mix.

Twenty years running my boat in Delaware bay and open ocean and I never had a drop of alcohol on the boat. Fishermen , unlike Weebles, do fall down when they wobble.

I have enough trouble standing erect stone sober . Especially on a pitching boat deck.

As one of the clients I helped said, "I have no trouble falling down. It's the sudden stops that are the problem."

Dead on Ben. Manys yrs ago i went with a friend. He got drunk capsized the boat. I lost most of my gear. Never again. When i was fishing tournament my rules were no alcohol no drugs n no smoking in my truck. I allowed smoking on my boat if they was careful.

I can wait until I get back to the dock, or the boat is on the trailer. There are times I need a drink afterwards to relax after all the foolishness I witnessed and tried to avoid by the pleasure boaters, water skiers and jet skis.
I will admit that I will have a drink during a sunset, “cocktail cruise” on the pontoon boat before dinner. It is on a lake I know like the back of my hand and at less than 2mph... We are just one of dozens of boats who do this every night and we keep our distances. Nothing like watching the eagles soar and the loons try to catch their dinner on a dead calm lake.

Ben.... this is what I tell my kids... one day the sun may not rise or the moon may fall from the sky but, I will always, always be your Father.

I keep one can of beer in the built in cooler in my boat to drink when I catch my 10 lber. Man, I really need to put a new beer in there. That ones so old it will probably give me a major case of the squirts! 🤣😃🤣🤣
