Is a double surgeons knot a okay knot to use as an alternative to the blood knot when wanting to add more leader?

I would go a with a Alberto or double uni. IMO

Yes, it will work, but it is not as smooth through the guides as a blood knot, double uni, or Alberto knot.

I’ve had great luck using the Double Surgeons knot when adding tippit to my tapered leaders. It’s fast and easy and I personally have never had strength problems with it.
