Between Will Rogers and El Matador, with a buddy, we tried our luck off the rocks near ElMatador, on the surf. Really high current and rip there so no luck. Didn't actually fish El Matador. Back towards Malibu the only place we got anything resembling fish was the pier.
Wanted to try some surf fishing bought all the gear and have all the SP and LC swimmers but no luck from the surf. The MPA areas at Point Dume I know about. But is there any fishing from Zuma? Supposes to be a pier somewhere after Point Dume. Have no clue where. Any suggestions for semi decent non secretive spots that are not so damn strong as far as current. Really appreciate any advice. I use 10ft or 9 foot MH rods with 4k reels. I have lots of gear for boat fishing that I cannot use here. I really want to do this right. Catch and release of course. That's a given.
