Lake Taneycomo is recovering from a challenging 2020. The very excellent and enlightened management of water release from Tablerock Lake through the majestic Tablerock Dam is once again providing the clear, beautiful, cold water below the dam in which the rainbow and brown trout seem to thrive. Wading and fly fishing in the catch-and-release section in this gorgeous Ozark setting is first class recreation/relaxation. A serious caution if you fish the half-mile below the dam, whether wading or in a boat--when you hear the siren blow, prepare for potential fast-moving, quick rising "flood." At the same time this is when oxygen content rises, and the trout go "steroid!"
Between this section and the city limits of Branson, there are few public accesses for bank fishing; best bet is a boat from Lily's Landing or Cooper Creek resorts. Once "downtown" it's all bank or boat (except one underwater mystery gravel dike just above Bass Pro in the Branson Landing, which can accommodate 1 or 2 'waders'), but you can rent a pontoon boat at the Branson marina, and run upstream and float down past beautiful settings, homes, and camps. Been fishing this lake since age 5, a total now of 61 years; just retired and doing a weekly gig! See you there!

Welcome to Forum, thirdwillie. Everything you said is absolutely true. Taneycomo is a great place to fish.
Getting that trout fishing itch. Thanks for the update. Heading down from Springfield to try my luck today. A great day in our history.
Thank you so much!
Heading there in a couple of months.

Hey tw, you need to check out iteachflyfishing posts as he spends a lot of time there below the dam and has put on a lot of beautiful trout pics. He does real well fishing there in those tailwaters below the dam. Personally I fish to the east of you on the White in the tailwaters of Bull Shoals. You might try that fishery some time.

Welcome to the forum thirdwillie. Maybe we can get together (down there or up here in Kansas City, Missouri) for some fishing.
