OK, My 57 Chevy story.
I was working "On Site" at a trucking firm in North N.J. in 1976. I noticed one of the women there was upset.
"What's wrong?"
"My neighbor just had her car stolen out of her garage and the Insurance company is only going to give her $300 for it."
"Really? Why so little?"
"Well it was 20 years old. Her husband bought it new and died 6 months later. She always had the dealer do the maintenance on it when the book said to have it done." "She would only drive it to the store or Church if the weather was good."
"It only had 3000 miles on it with the original tires and the Police told her that a 1/2 hour after it was stolen, it could drive past her and she would not recognize it."
Me "Wait, are you telling me she had a 20 yer old 57 Chevy with 3000 miles, that was dealer maintained, and garage kept?"
"Yes."
They said that she had not told them it was special car, so they would only give her $300 for it."
"Tell her to call them back and notify them she is getting a Lawyer to sue them. Everyone knows what a 57 Chevy is."
Later she told me the Insurance company settled with her $3000 dollars. The lady had all her records from the dealer and the original paint job that still looked new. Her insurance company, IMO, still shafted her.

Great story audigger and yes the insurance company did shaft her. Hell, they might have been who stole it. That was probably a beautiful 57 Chevy. Plus, you hardly hear of anyone stealing a Ford in any condition. 🤣😂😱

45 years ago my uncle Bob moved here from Montana, he had an old black pontiac. The trunk had like a big center wide at the top going into a point above the lock. Then I thought it was ugly. But sure wish I new what it was and could get one today. I don't even know the year, late 60's to early 70's..

Yes it is, the 72's are still big sellers. Buddy if mine sold his for more than he paid for it new. And now it looks better than it did new. The really fixed it up. Sharp looking truck.

My grandson is restoring a 72 right now. Well he’s having it restored. It’s almost finished except for paint. His Dad bought if for a grand before restoration. Didn’t have an engine, transmission or interior and he got a good deal on it because it was fairly straight and no rust. 1/2 ton 4x4. The old orange with a white top. Now it’s new from the frame up. New crate 350, new automatic tranny, two inch lift (basically put it back to original suspension) it’s not lifted much. New tires and wheels, all new everything pretty much. Including the purchase price my grandson has a little over 12 grand invested before paint. The restoration outfit has offered him 15 grand for it but he’s gonna keep it. They know what’s its worth right now because they did all the work. It won’t be worth as much as one restored to original condition or one that’s already in great shape and untouched but it’s gonna be worth having for sure. I tried to convince him to paint it the original color but he’s 20. Works three jobs and is paying for it himself. It’s gonna be “candy apple red with a pear glaze”😂. He’ll realize once he’s about 50 it should have been orange with a white top and orange interior. Lol.

This is not the truck and my grandson’s is a long box but it kinda shows where they’re at restored.

I liked the Studebaker Hawks! First time I drove my EX in-laws Studebaker I got a pleasant surprise. Driving in Seattle down town and a lot of steep hills. It was a stick shift and when I had to stop at the top of the grade at a stop light, I got introduced to the "Hill Holder" that kept the brakes locked on until i started to let out the clutch to drive forward!
