Hello All, just found the forum, looking forward to hearing some sage advice. Can anyone comment on the steelhead fishing in the American or Feather Rivers?
Thanks
Find yourself some good salmon roe ( Indians are good at making roe in the netting ) then pencil sinkers, rubber surgical tubing, 3 ways swivel. I like a 1/0 circle hook but I am sure there are guys that are going to knock hook shape and size
Thanks for your help, I was also looking for some feed back on the activity and success on the 2 rivers.
Steelhead fishing in the Feather is not going to be good right now because 1. there's barely any water in it, very dangerous boating and not many fish - and 2. they generally follow the spawning salmon in the early, sometimes late fall, they feast on the eggs, and it's a little late, and there weren't many salmon in there this past year. Pretty slim pickin's. You'll probably have much better luck in the American. I've seen folks like you asking about the American, and I haven't seen a lot of replies with information. Get your butt down there and let us know how you do and then post some pictures. If you go to Sportsman's Warehouse online site, they have local fishing reports posted, you might some information there.
