Newport Beach/Huntington Beach meet at Santa Santa Ana river mouth. Halibut and bass are caught there. Inside the (small) jettys). Spent many hours on Bolsa Chica beach. Go south from entrance to the (small) jetty where the Huntington Harbor goes in and out. 6# mono, 6-7' rod for usually close in shore break. Halibut on small Gulp oil colored curly tail, short (2-3") camo trout plastic worms, small white Gulp minnow. Carolina Rig. SC Surf fishing.com for info. Take some packets of Mexican hot sauce (shhhhh-secret). Just past North end on Bolsa Chica is Sunset Beach. Free parking.
Light tackle
For bait; ghost shrimp, razor clams, strip of squid
Fish; croaker, Sargo, bay bass, sand sharks and rays, etc
Tactics; keep your bait moving I have fished there a lot. It’s fun.
