That kind of back up is a good feeling. My boys, consistently, drop their elk every year over 800 yards. My youngest, last year, got his at 1100 yards. One shot and done. They shoot 300 ultras and I don't claim to be able to shoot near that. They're like "don't worry about stuff Dad. We got yer back". Makes me feel like I did SOMETHING right along the way. Good job teaching that one Saw. I know the feeling. đź‘Ť

Dang, at 1100 yards, I'd be lucky to even hit the ground!

saw1; it reminds me of a target that my Ma had used, to "qualify" for the Cleveland Auxiliary Police... She hung it up, inside the (walk-in) cupboard door in her kitchen and would leave the cupboard door open, on warm days. (No insulation)...
More than once, I had "buddies" of mine, get a look at it, then by the looks on their faces, I could tell that they were "making themselves a mental note"; to NOT bother my mother!!!

I taught both my girls to shoot and also gave them both advice about any man they were with if he beat them up or hit them. " Just remember, He's gotta sleep sometime. Make sure he wakes up in the hospital. If you're still with him and he ever does it again, Make sure he doesn't wake up the next time."

That; I suppose, would be one way to "go about it"... I remember someone suggesting a few decades ago: "If ya gotta beat'er; ya don't need'er"... (Not in any shape from or way, suggesting that she "needed it"... But, you KNOW that THAT is how some "warped minds" work!)

I lived in Tahoe when my girls were goin to school . And I told them that if any of their boyfriends were ever to hit them, to remind them that their Dad fishes Lake Tahoe and it is over 1600 feet deep. Bodies that sink in Tahoe never resurface. Specially if they have a cinder block tied to em to make sure they make it all the way to the bottom.

Sounds like another workable solution.

Right? I have a really nice 300 win mad my oldest boy bought for me. High end scope and the works. Even with that things blur out about 600 yards and the gun is capable of way more than that. They don’t get that old blind guys don’t get much benefit out of long range shooting any more. Lol. I’m confident up to 500 with it but beyond that I’d better shoot quick or things just go fuzzy in about 15 seconds.

I love that my kids learned to shoot. I taught 3 of the 4 as my Dad taught me so I hunted and competed. My other 4th child was very athletic in other sports and wasn't into shooting, fishing yes but not shooting. She went on to get her PhD and is now helping people. My youngest my Daughter got really good. at 15/16 She was the WA state woman's Champion. and in an out door match in eastern WA at the same age was high girl and 2nd place overall and beat one young lady who was a Freshman in college who went on to be the Olympic Gold Medalist. I sent her at about that time to the Olympic Training center for more and better training at Colorado Springs, Colorado. Proud of my kids as all of you are.

You should be. That’s pretty awesome with all of them. They each have their niche and it’s great you support them like that. Good on ya👍 If we still had that style of parenting this world would be a MUCH better place. I’m like Phil Robertson from Duck Dynasty when my grandkids come to visit. “Cell phones and electronic gadgets go right here if you want them when you leave”. Got a big basket for them to store them for safe keeping until they leave. 🤨
