I just love to fish, hand me a pole put me in front of some water and I'll be happy. If u can't find a pond, creek, river, lake or ocean then fill up a bathtub I'll still be happy as long if there is fish in it. Don't worry fish more.

I have double clips on the outriggers. That puts two on each side of the boat. The other two are flat lined right behind the boat at different length. All 6 are out at once. First one you grab is the first one that goes off and hope they don't tangle up.

Back in the days of 16-20lb Bluefish, I used to troll 4 TLDs. 2 on the riggers,2 flat lined and a 113 Senator loaded with wire, down the middle. There's nothing like the sound of those clickers going off! FISH ON 3 ,FISH ON 1, FISH ON 5.......

When I fish for King Mackerel I use a 114 Senator on a down rigger with a ribbon fish for bait.

I’ve got a friend that I go with for stripers. He’s adamant that he’s got the boat rigged with all that’s needed and wants no extraneous gear. It’s kinda weird to me but then again, I’ve not got an ocean worthy craft.

I have a full complement of gear for me and the back seater. Maybe one more but it’s kinda crowded with three on my boat only done that once.
I generally don’t mind a partner bringing his own stuff.

Went with a guy one time. We talked at work about bass fishing a lot and we agreed to go out . He shows up with 4 POS rods “ in case one breaks” 2 of these had tips broken off. , a 5 gallon bucket a cooler with a 12 pack of beer and a lunch box and a tackle box held closed with a piece of rope.
Kinda mortified. Like I said my boat is fairly packed and it’s a Lund 1875. Not a real big boat.
I really disapprove of beer on my boat. Always have. Now after we get back home , that’s a different story.
The trip wasn’t much fun, tjis guy talked a mean game but was all talk.
First thing he did when we got to first spot was crack a beer and fire up a joint. This was like 7:45 in the morning
He did manage to snag and lose some of my lures. And burn a hole on my deck carpet
I made it a point to keep the rod locker closed.
He never got invited back

I will agree that other people’s stuff never feels as comfortable as my own.
I will have to admit the Muskie in my Avatar was caught with my buddy’s Daughter’s rod and her jointed Shad Rap, though. We had just finished duck hunting and he was changing into his dry suit as we were going to pull the pier. I saw the rod in the boathouse and decided to make a few casts to waste time as I waited. I changed the handle as she is left handed and caught the fish on the third cast. Light action POS rod and 6# test. Luckily the water was cold.

Maybe I’m OCD but I can’t stand using other peoples fishing rods and reels.
To me it’s like wearing someone else’s shoes
Just don’t feel right
Anyone else like this or am I just weird ?

I prefer my own gear. I don't mind using a friends gear if something of mine has broke like I have had happen on a huge Chinook. I will use a guides gear. I will always follow an experienced guide or captain ( I know is successful at our target ) recommendation. I will never not Bring lunch pay for gas share bait and gear if I am on a buddies boat. I always have plenty of gear on my own boats to provide for other passengers on board. I continually get fresh equipment ( one here and there ) like one of these days get Egg to build custom. I have classic gear for wall hanging and plenty at all ages of gear.

I have taken several people many times on one of my boats and provided everyone with proper set up. It is sometimes better than everyone bringing another pile of stuff. I am looking forward to getting out for Spring Chinook this year here.

I also use left side crank. Most reels add a 1 to the end of model for left like Abu G Amb 5501 is one of my favorites. It is longest lasting and most used reel of mine. I just told buddy tonight he could have my or use my right side crank for his rod or use new combo whenever for Spring Chinook this year on NO HURRY.

We're creatures of habit so sure we prefer using our own stuff. There's also that factor of breaking someone else's gear. But you might like their stuff Ben. Try it on, it's not underwear!

I will use a borrowed rod if I don't have my own. Most fish I caught in one day was with someone else's rod not because of the rod he just knew where the fish were

Ben if you are considered weird you have a partner here. Always had the feeling that if something is loss or broken the exact replacement would not be what the owner really wanted. Feel the same way on tools. I will buy before borrowing.

This is why I could tell my neighbor if she needed a tool I probably have it. I don't mind lending to someone who returns. I just don't like to be the borrower.

My offshore boat has 6 matching rods with tld25s on them for trolling. I have never had a complaint about them. I'm not sure I would let you bring your own for reason of loosing a big fish it there was a mal function of yours. Now that said bottom fishing you bring your own or you can use mine. Same goes for inshore fishing. My son is left handed and needs his handle on the other side. Just saying.

I understand your line of reasoning on trolling. My daughter's FIL has the boat, I built him a matched set of 6 rods, and they are the only rods he uses unless bottom fishing.

Your last sentence says it all Ben.

How do you guys feel about a radio while fishing? For me it interrupts the Peace and Quiet and the 2nd reason for going fishing.

It depends where, and when I'm fishing Plum. Early morning I'll listen to nature. As soon as human introduced noise starts, other fishermen, jetskis, waterskiers , or the worst of all :Wake Boarders and Surfers! Why they gotta have 4or6 speakers, and 500watts, blasting Hip-Hop or Gangsta music I don't know. That's when I'll turn on one of our Classic Rock stations, not too loud but enough to drown out other peoples noise.
