I’d like to meet you too Hack. I’ll work on it. It just don’t work out for me from May through September. Sounds like some good fishing at Clinton lake though. I’ve researched it. Catfish, walleye and crappie. It don’t get much better than that in my book.

1550 miles one way from my house to Clinton lake. I DO have a nephew with a plane though. 🤔

Man that sounds great Catfish. I’ve never even been anywhere to catch a walleye. I hope it can happen next year. I’m going to check out the mileage.

It’s over 1500 miles from my place to yours but I know a guy in Wyoming that has the scoop on big fish at Flaming gorge. I can bring my boat and maybe he’d show us how to catch a couple for a few days. I know he would. That’s about half way for each of us. He’s a super nice guy. 👍

Yeah I been on Flaming Gorge with Egg he is super cool. I would love to meet Hack and everyone there again. I posted pictures here of Egg when we we went in September he is the local pro there. I already told him I would be back. I have relatives 1/2 day past there. Let me know when. Egg is super cool. I could but not super interested in Towing my No Hurry boat all the way there.

Right now is when the fish are biting in the gorge.

I’ve caught lots of walleye in lots of different places. Never had a bad one. I hope you catch a bunch. I catch a ton of them on accident using tubes I make for squaw fish. They eat anything bass eat and they love eating bass and each other. I caught a 12 pound walleye once that had a 4 pound walleye stuck in his mouth and he STILL hammered my tube. Silver with black and red glitter. 4” tube with two 1/8 ounce weights inside and a double hook set up. One hook at the top of the tail on the tube and the other at the end of the tails. I’ll catch 100 a year easy that way and I’m not even trying to catch em. If they’re there they take it. Right at dark. You can feel their teeth hit your leader. I just use braid as my main line and a 12 pound leader. About 3 walleye and it’s new leader time. Fun to catch and good eatin. Just fillet them like any fish. Then cut a V down the outside of the fillet on both sides of the fat line down the middle. Grab the tail end of that V and you pull the Y bones right out. Some times it divides the fillet on the smaller ones but it’s completely boneless that way. Sweet red chili sauce and crushed macadamia nuts and let it set over night in the fridge in tin foil. The next day put a little real butter on there and you’ll be hooked on eatin walleye. Pretty darn good pouched in tin foil on the grill with lots of butter and lemon pepper too for fish tacos😋

I got this off the internet but it’s close to what I use. PM me your address if you want and the next time I make tubes I’ll whip you up a batch and mail em to ya. I make all of my own👍. I store em in lamprey oil and they’re good for a couple seasons that way. Plus the lamprey oil is a good attractant.

Wow, really! You’ll have to tell me how to use them. I’ll be more than happy to pay you or pay postage. Thank you so much Catfish.

I’ll dig mine out. Probably have a couple hundred. I’ll take a picture of them rigged up and it’s basically cast and retrieve where the walleye are. On the Columbia I drift them from the bank as well as cast and retrieve from a boat. Pretty simple. They’re meant to look like baby salmon or steelhead so however you would imagine a baby salmon or steelhead swimming is how they work. Killer around dams.
We ain’t gonna worry about paying for anything.i can make 50 of em for about $2.00 and postage is nothing. They’re light. I won’t have $5.00 wrapped up in the whole thing and that’s including making myself a hundred or so. I give em to all the guys on the river. They love em. It’s just fun making stuff like that for me.

I must decline meeting in May. Since I am 86 and have a number of medical problems, taking a chance like this when the odds of this epidemic are not likely to be lifted completely by then, I am in the class of being too likely to have little chance of survival if I'm infected.

I would like to suggest you reschedule for the 2022. Just Sayin...RJS

Bob,
That seems to be the consensus from the other members of FS so far. We will make a final decision in the next 30 days or so and will post a thread then.

For those who had made plans to attend, please post ideas and opinions on this thread as soon as possible. Thank you all for your attention to this. Randy
