Niceolo de Bernado dei Machiavelli

I assume you have heard this name tossed about in polite company, but have you ever looked past this and delved into what and who Machiavelli really was and why he became famous?

The reason I brought this individual up, is that he wrote and published a book entitled The Prince in 1513. This book is perhaps the first, but certainly the best and foremost book on political strategy and intrigue. It should be required of all college graduates, regardless of their field.

So what, you may ask? Well, in my opinion you have over the last year, and particularly in the past weekend witnessed exceptional professional use of Machiavellians sk**ls as have been used for decades and perhaps centuries. What am I talking about? Well, the brains, or control center of the Democratic party have made virtual c**p de tat and run circles around the Republican party who collectively been asleep at the switch, in a manner of speaking.

Due to these “Machiavellian” moves, the Democratic strategists not only made clever and dangerous moves, but they have also made the public think the fault, or perpetrator was the Republican party, which was, if it were golf, would be a hole in one.

Next, there were two A****a team leaders photographed in the Capital raid. But neither was apprehended. I assume they both are now on a plane out of the country! This was, or appears to be, orchestrated and well-planned. It was to appear the peaceful activities of the Republican crowd was the raiding party and responsible for the aggressive attack on the hallowed halls of Congress, and all at President Trump’s urging. Whether you agree with either party or not, that is pure Machiavellian to the core.

During the p**********l campaign, both B*M and A****a literally burned and played havoc in several cities. What was the result? Nothing! Nothing, except that President Trump was blamed in the press for allowing it to happen. Why? Well, even though the governors of these states and mayors of the affected cities did nothing or aided and abetted the actors, it was Trump’s fault.

Same thing with the handling of the C****-** attack. Between the news media and the democratic party strategists, he was trapped. That again is super Machiavellian strategy. Well, if you cannot see the pattern now, I doubt you ever will.

Let me explain who I am. I have been a Republican ever since college. I was a young Democrat in college and was an officer in the Young Democrats club in college. I was invited to attend President Johnson’s BBQ at his ranch after graduation. I declined later because of a telegram from the Secretary of U.S. Air Force. Only when I began to pay taxed did I change parties.

However, later as the precinct Chairman of the Republican Precinct 334, here in Houston for over ten years, I was fervent student of politics. I said then if a young person were thinking of entering politics in Texas, he should be a Democrat because the field was wide open and could not remain that way for long. The demographics and power had to switch over time!

You should Google this man and what he wrote for your own edification. Whether we realize it nor not, there are several strata of events going on, much like a magician, it is easy to get distracted and misdirected! We have just seen a masterful performance in my humble opinion. Just Sayin…RJS

Machiavellian and Other Bad Behavior

While inspiring an eponym may seem like a fine way to achieve linguistic immortality, it must be said that many words taken from people’s names are not terribly complimentary. Machiavellian comes from the Italian political philosopher Niccolò Machiavelli (1469-1527), the author of the most famous treatise on bare-knuckled politics ever published, The Prince. Other less-than-laudatory English eponyms include the verb burke, after William Burke, a 19th century Irish criminal famous for smothering people and selling their bodies to be dissected; dunce, from John Duns Scotus, whose writings were widely ridiculed in the 16th century; and boycott, from Charles C. Boycott, a land manager in 19th century Ireland who was himself boycotted for charging high rents.

I have given several copies of The Prince to younger and sometimes uninformed friends. It is a fine piece of human nature in print.

Thanks Robert. I see all of what you speak about here and I will research those readings. Sounds interesting. Some on here will argue with you to the death but won’t take the time to actually wake up and see what’s going on. They have so much h**e for one person they will never see the good in him. Very sad. I even tried very hard to see the good in Obama. Never saw it. Looked very hard to find something good about Hillary. Couldn’t find it. At least I was open minded and tried. Some won’t do that and it’s the problem with our country today. The bad have too many followers who just believe what ever they say and they know it.

Once again, thanks for the education, Mr. Samples! I'll be looking for that book, here @ the Cleveland Public Library... Ain't been down there, in over a year (roughly)... I'd gone on a kind of a "science-fiction reading binge", for a few months, after I'd first moved closer to the lake.

Thank-you Robert. I sure hope that you have opened the eyes of those who refuse to see what is “ Really” going on in our country. 🐟on

DozerDave: I was trying to be balanced. I try to observe both sides, their acts and strategies and this hit me as the best well planned C**p that has been attempted an executed in my lifetime, unless the shooting of President Kennedy was a political c**p. Just Sayn....RJS

I think we all are trying to be balanced Robert. But it is what it is. And you are right. The shooting of Kennedy may very well have been a political c**p. I’m thinking that may again be a possibility in our life time...🐟on
