Just joined today and looking forward to all you old guys and tips. I'm 74 and love Stillwater fishing for trout. Trouble is few places around here other than stocked lakes. Looking for fresh venues. Cheers, all.
That was my dream. When I wanted to I just jumped into the Golf cart and head down to the docks. Not particular for what , just fishing. Love that town. Not to be.

Welcome to the forum, HRD, I have never been Bandon, OR. so, I know nothing about the water you are fishing, but I do know that trout do like nightcrawlers and if it is stillwater, use very little weight and if fairly shallow, don't use any weight. If you have a spinning rod set up, you could toss a spinners at them. Ask the guy at a tackle shop, not a Walmart, what spinner might work on a trout. There are many. Tight lines and good luck buddy!
Nice area! Used to fish Ten-Mile for Bass, Panfish, and Trout. Might want to give that a look see, don't think it's too far up the coast. Good luck to you!
I had my eye on Ten-Mile the other day. Being from the UK 39 years ago I still like to waggler float fish rather than spinning. So far all the lakes have a ton of weed down at 4-5 feet. Have to keep them high. There's something weird about me wanting to stare at a float all day Lol.
Yes, nightcrawlers work well but I like maggots better. Some Powerbaits also work of course if the fish are hungry. Some days I go through 6 to 8 flavors and then don't get a bite.
