Welcome to the Stage Daniel, sorry no help here, but there are some from your area who should have some. Good luck and Tight Lines!

Welcome Dan. I had no idea there are steelhead in Ohio. I used to fish for steelhead in California - they aren't hard to catch, just hard to locate. I used to drift salmon roe under a bobber - as deep and close to the bottom as you can get without getting hung up. My advice is if you're just starting out with steelhead, invest in a good guide and pick his brain, learn all you can from him. Or find a friend with some experience.

Can’t go wrong with a salmon egg under a slip float.

Mr Scruggs I live in Lakewood now but I grew up on the east side and have done quite a bit of Steelhead fishing in the Chagrin river. All the advice from the guys above ( the OG’s of the Stage) is spot on. All I can add is my local knowledge of a couple spots to put that advice to work at. I’ve done well from the wall near the boat launch on the south side of the road where the Chagrin River intersects with Lakeshore Boulevard in Eastlake. In that same area is Woodland park. It’s off Lakeshore just west of the other spot. You drive all the way back where the huge soccer ball is then park. Walk trail to the west and there are a variety spots that have nice holes that hold fish. I spend my time on the Rocky River mostly now a days. If you are ever out that way send me a PM maybe I can show you my honey holes.

Happy New Year!

Welcome to the Fishing Stage, Mrscruggs! I have right AT: 0% experience, in catching Steelhead. So, unfortunately, I can't be of any real help; other than to extend a warm ¡Welcome!
