What kinda fish is this. Are they good eating. How do you fish for them. What are some good bait or lures. How big do they get. Do you know of any good lakes that have them. Unscramble this and you might fish from one.

Fishing from a skiff could be fun. Looks a little like a grayling to me but I'm no expert on trout types.

IDK, I'm guessing that it is a Lake Trout.

I believe it's a Lake Trout. Except in the spring they are usually deep water fish and respond well to large jigs and spoons. Very good eating, they grow pretty big. 20 to 40 pounders are not uncommon where they are well established. They fight like Bulls, they go down and they stay there. Great fun. From a skiff or a boat or through the ice.
Ask Egghead. My my.
Although some call them trout, they are not. They are a char, as are brook "trout". Here in California we call them Mackinaws, or Macs. As with the brookies, they be delicious.

It’s a lake trout or mackinaw as called by some. I don’t see many people fishing from a SKIFF for them though. I haven’t fished for lakers in 40 years. I know a certain Egg head that’s good at it though. I can’t even remember how we fished for them.

Spirit, personally, I just call them elusive. After multiple week long trips to Eastern Washington over the last three years (canceled this year), I am am still at a count of one. Mind you, I am not complaining. I am just stating facts. At least I have filled in with great smallmouth, trout, kokanee and perch fishing as well as crab and sole. It sounds like you have named all fish elusive this year. Just one month and you can start fresh.

I'm gonna catch one come December, that's my month. If you want tips on how to catch them lake trout, talk to Egghead. Have you seen his photos? Of course I think he only fishes when it's 30 or 40 below and the wind chill is -80.

Brookie ! You can catch them
from a SKIFF/canoe/kayak, with worms/'crawlers, flies, shiners/ minnows, spinners/spoons ! Fishing method may depend on location, such as a lake/pond,
river/stream; preferred habitat would be any water body that
runs clear, clean and cold ! The largest I've seen/heard/read
about was in the 5-lb. range, but they may run bigger !
After reading a few replies,
I could be wrong, as I've had no
experience with 'lakers'; to me
(on my phone), the pattern on the fish's back kinda resembled the 'wormwood' pattern on a brookie !

The vaccine will not be distributed by December. The fish will still be masked up. Sorry, maybe next spring. As for fishing lakers through the ice, I avoid bites deliberately. It interferes with the hot buttered rum or coffee and brandy. Those are the only reason to be on the ice when the temperature hits -0
