New on the Mississippi Gulf Coast

Hello everyone,

I recently relocated to the Mississippi Gulf Coast after living in Colorado for 20 years. I hadn't been fishing for ... 30 years maybe? When I moved here, though, you realize quick that fishing is a big, big deal. I've gotten interested again, but I'm way behind on the learning curve. I've got a few friends here that fish (allegedly) but you know how it goes, people are busy and despite my begging and pleading I haven't gotten anyone to show me how it's done.

I've thrown my line out on the local piers, that about it. Nearly hauled in a good-sized blue crab, but other than that I've just been robbed blind by the Pinfish.

Looking forward to being part of the "show" here! Feel free to reach out, especially if you're nearby Ocean Springs, MS.

Andy

Hello everyone, br br I recently relocated to the... (show quote)

Andy,

Welcome to the group! When ever I am fishing a new area (to me) I look for a local guide to go out with, and learn from. They know the do's and don'ts and are usually very free with the information once you paid the fee. I always tell them in advance I will have lot's of questions. If the reply is grumble grumble, I look for some one else. If they say "I will answer what I can" I found my guy! Good luck.

Welcome to South Mississippi from just a few miles to the northwest in Pearl River County. I fish a lot, but always in fresh water and can't help you with how to fish salt water. There should be plenty of folks who will, thought.
