Bank fish if you are hunting catfish. Any bait thats nasty, but a dog will still eat it is good for them.

Nebraska is near me and I can tell you that at the bigger lakes, I love to catch crappie and go bank fishing. I would recommend crappie fishing for sure.

Welcome to the Forum, Layne. Why do you want to catch a carp?
I saw your weather, BRRRRR I would wait until Spring now !!! hahahahahaahha
If your fishing for cats, we use treble hooks, and make our own bait, chicken livers, old smelly cheese, {melted}, crawdad tails work great, make ball of whatever is soft, tread the hook threw it, make sure the tips are covered well, and put into ice trays {small pocket ones} and freeze. Keep on ice in a cooler, attach with a swivel, we do better night fishing for them, and us. Camp fire, family/friends, just a lot of good times fish or not.
Go to local tackle shops near lakes you want to fish. Also google Nebraska Fishing, also go to YouTube.
Fish for blue cats with cut bait, all the prepared baits and mixes are more for channel cats. Pay attention to annual migration of blue cats and fish deep and fish points and fish the forage they are eating. Like now it could be the blue gill fry have grown enough or the shat may be deep cause of the cold fronts. And blue cats are great to eat and so are Crappie. I’d be happy to show you the ropes on Lake if the Ozarks. Glad to help with anything I can.
