Salamander, they eat fish egg, that means bass are spawning, Tarpon.
Looks like a hellbender but I’ve never caught a tarpon

Never actually seen one Mike - we didn't have these where I grew up, just mudpuppies, which is an entirely different critter.

A Hellbender salamander. See them around fresh water streams. Good large mouth bass / redfish and flounder in estuarys and ponds...I think.

We call mudpuppies, crayfish in LA / Lower Alabama. They are scruptious eaten with a shrimp,crab and corn on the cob with new potatoes. They are also ued in gumbo.

It’s an Hellbender, a type of salamander that lives in cold water streams.
They prefer clean water to. Have you ever dug any up in your barn cleaning out the manure Mike. I have that thing was about 8 inches long lol
Salamander but we also call them Water Dogs.
