Busy this morning so I didn't get to the lake until about 2:00. I decided to fish the two mile bridge. Worked my way down without even a nibble. Got to the end of it and about out of daylight and see two guys in inner tubes using flippers on their feet for propulsion. I saw them catch 6 crappie in about 15 minutes.

So much for spending a lot of money on a boat and a lot more money on electronics. I guess you are either a fisherman or a person who spends a lot of time trying to be a fisherman.

My opinion, if you want to fish, go fish. If you want to maintain a motor and a hull and all the electronics and tinker and tow and launch and bring ashore and store - get a boat.

Always seems to be everyone else catching and me saying “What am I doing wrong”. First thing is to make sure you’re using the lightest line possible for the fish you’re after. You may go to 4lb test for crappie and be surprised at how often you hook a largemouth. It’s more thrilling landing fish on light line too. Nobody can brag about catching a 4 pound bass on 30lb test but if you say 4 or 6 I’d be impressed and you’d have a lot more fun. Just don’t try it around a lot of cover, lol

PapaJ, I'll be at lake Fork in march or April & i'm going to fish from my boat. If you'll show up I'll bring a belly boat & flippers that you can use. After a couple days I think you'll fall in love all over again with your boat. You might want to bring some
fur underwater as the water is usually around 60 degrees. I'll look you up a couple times during the day while I'm on a coffee break. When I was young & full of vim & vinegar I fished out of a belly boat & caught fish. Now days I enjoy that padded seat on the fishing deck, a handy place to store a coffee thermos & room for an ice chest full of cold drinks. Good luck.
