Missing Trout Fishing

New to the Folsom, CA and haven’t run into any trout fishermen or good locations to Trout Fish.
My brother & Nephew are strictly SMB or LMB fishing, but for myself I’m strictly a trout fisherman since that’s all I did in Susanville, Ca. Just looking to hear Of some local spot to try my luck at.

Folsom Lake holds trout and they're easy to catch from the bank in the winter. But if you're looking for some fatties, go to Natoma. Negro Bar State Park. Or if you have a kayak or tube go up as close to Folsom dam as you can get (it's controlled by Folsom Prison) since there's hardly any pressure up there at all, one can do extremely well. The water that feeds Natoma comes out deep from Folsom and is cold year round, that and something about the nutrients in Natoma make for some football shaped trout. Another lake not too far from you is Amador - they have their own farms and do their own plants. It can be real good this time of year. Take a long rod and throw a casting bubble half full of water as far out as you can with a fly behind it - woolybuggers work real well. Have fun. Be safe. Good luck.

The American River below Nimbus dam is another great spot. Spawning salmon and steelhead. Check the regs and talk to the people at hatchery. Lots of folks out there wading most years.

Y'all too kind. Spirit and his guide service haven't caught a fish since last December. Spirit's Skunk Works, more like it.

Listen to Spirit. He knows of what he speaks. If you don’t mind driving a little try Rancho Seco, Pardee, Camanche and New Melones. I’ve caught trout in all of them. Don’t bother with New Hogan. Not a trout to be found but tons of striped bass. Good luck and tight lines.
