The CDFW fish planting page has information on hatchery issues. There have been almost no plants all year, and the web site says that the situation will continue into 2021.

Thanks panther, I will check it out. In the mean time there are still lots of wild trout available, but as has been noted they are a lot harder to catch, so hone your skills and lower your catching expectations, take in the scenery and enjoy our beautiful state. I see you are in "Northern California", care to elaborate? Where you fishin?

Sad to hear that area has taken such a beating with fires. Beautiful area and used to be great fishing. Spent a lot of time there every year in the past with my son. Fish plants were always a big part of our success but, they used to have a sizeable holdover population. My go to method given to me by the former owners of Big Rock Springs Resort on June Lake was trolling flies near the weed banks. Medium speed, olive matuka usually with a red head and a small split shot about 60ft behind the boat always produced. Early morning or just about the last hour at night. That area was always good for spinners as well. Good luck and hope it recovers.

Was up there about two weeks ago and the fishing in June lake was great. Our group brought home about 40 lbs of filets and we cooked up a bunch also. The largest we caught was about 6+lbs. most were in the 3+ lb range. Have fun.

I'm up fishing in the Trinity Alps now. Hiking in to lakes each day, and mostly lure fishing.
