I remember as a kid when the killing frost would come. That meant fried green tomato time. I would pick every green tomato. Don't know why the little never made it to the fring pan. I haven't had a decent garden since moving to Florida. All I grow is pineapples, loquats and papayas.

That was the same for me. My father's parents lived next door. When we had the first killing frost we would go out and get all the green tomatoes. Soaked them in salt water then dipped in corn meal and fried in bacon fat. One time a year. Special treat.

Looks real yummy!!!!! I don't like anything on that plate--I love it all!!!! (specially the fish and Fried Okra. Around hear the only place I can get it served to me is approx. 200 miles away at the Cracker Barrel, so when theer I order 2 sides--Deep fried okra!
