Bass fishing in So. Calif.
Just started bass fishing here in So. Cal. looking for 3 good lakes to try and what time of year to try fishing for Bass. Need something to do since our wonderful state mis-manged our trout hatchery's and they won't be planting trout for a couple of years. Go Pack Go

Welcome to the Forum, PACKERS. Why are you a Packer's fan, living in So. CA.? Are you crazy?
I was born in Wis. and am a cheesehead by birth.

Welcome aboard there Packers.
Pyramid, Castaic and Big Bear. There's three. State record came out of Castaic some years ago, and it still has a reputation for trophy bass. As does Pyramid. Big bear has very good bass fishing - it's at 7000 feet so should be good summer fishing. Plus there's 100's of things to do up there if the fish aren't biting. I'm not a bass fisherman, but I'm sure gonna hear from some. Good luck and post some photos.
Hey Packers, welcome aboard.
I live in Temecula and have fished quite a few So. Cal lakes from here south. Have not fished up your way yet.
That being said, most of the lakes are pretty slow right now in this heat. Air temp over a hundred for awhile, and water temp around 82 in most lakes. Are you shore fishing or do you have a boat? We pretty much missed the spawn this year due to Covid. I would say Mar-June is probably best time. Summer not bad if cooler. In the fall you start getting a lot of the babies. My four best: Diamond Valley, Lake Skinner, Lake Perris and San Vincente to the south.
Late April to early May this year had two PB's at Skinner. First was 7.63 lb and next was 8.8 lbs. Have caught quite a few over 7 lbs at Diamond Valley over last 3-4 years. And my bro-in law got an 11.4 lb at Perris about 3 years ago. That's my take.........good luck!
They are stocking trout they are getting it out of state as our state, Ca, got infected. Most of our local lakes also got infected. We fished many of them unknowingly the past year, and paid to fish too. We went to green valley and posted the water conditions there. The smell was horrid as the sun came up, but the fee collector had already been by. We’re hoping the lakes are clean by now. Heading to diamond valley next week hopefully.
Looking forward to a report from you Julieada, and some nice pics.
Good Luck
I’ve had no luck any where we’ve gone. Lots of fishing no catching yet. Going to prado in the morning. We went to look at it yesterday and hoping we get a good spot🐟
