I'm a 63 year old male that transforms into a 12 year old boy everytime I pick up a rod. I reside in Yuba City, CA. I fish from a 1992 Stratos 264 FS that looks like it just came off the showroom floor. The 120HP Johnson on the back looks brand new because I completely rebuilt it myself last Winter.

I've been reading the forum for a little over a year. Bassmasters released their top 25 bodies of water in the USA to fish for bass recently with #1 and #5 both located in NoCal. So, I thought I'd try to let others know how blesses I am to live here. I took my two boys to Lake Almanor this Spring and the smallmouth Bass fishing was incredible. My oldest son added an 8 lb German Brown to the live well. We fished Bullards Bar one weekend (home of the world record spotted bass) and made several trips to the river for the annual Striped bass run. In six weeks the Salmon run will begin. So many fish, so many memories, truly I did not have to die to gain access to fishing heaven.
As ranked by Bassmaster, Clear Lake is the #1 bass lake of the Decade. https://m.bassmaster.com/best-bass-lakes/slideshow/best-bass-lakes-2010s?j=23047026&jb=0&l=4166640_HTML&mid=10688361&sfmc_sub=374873242&u=502778688

Hey Steve. Welcome to the stage. I live just down the road from you in Lincoln. Used to fish the Feather down around Shanghai Bend two or three times a month with my buddy Bill. He had a boat. I do not. I have fished Almanor and Amador, both fairly successfully. I've lived here in Lincoln for over 20 years and am familiar with most of the water around here. Go catch some more, and post pictures, we love em.

1st pic is my ugly mug. A nice bass always makes me look better. My boat. Oldest son with 5lb 1oz smallmouth and 8 lb German Brown. Youngest son. Although he seems to fall short on the bigger fish, he consistently outfishes me and older brother.

It's a crummy picture but the fish was so long I had to hold it back as far as I could to get it in the selfie. I've always had two goals a double digit largemouth and a 6 lb smallie. This guy should have made but was thin from the spawn. 5 lbs 9oz. I 'll never forget the hit on my jerkbait, exploding above the water with it stuck in his face! What a feeling releasing this fish knowing it will be a fat 6 plus at the end of the summer. The experience was so amazing I'm calling it close enough. Lol

Thanks to everyone who sent a friendly welcome. I had six weeks of fishing thanks to the Covid. Called back to work and haven't had a day off in two weeks, thanks to the Covid.
Oh, to the gentleman in Lincoln, I grew up and went to high school in Wheatland. Small world

Thanks FF. Like I needed a poke. Hey Steve, where do you fish for those smallies? I usually go over to Scott's Flat outside of Nevada City in the spring when they're sittin on their beds and go around the lake on my tube. Didn't get to go this year because of the virus, lake was closed.

Mom and Dad left us kids a beautiful home on the peninsula at Lake Almanor. I've been going there for 46 years but have never gone in the Spring. Turkey hunting and the largemouth spawn in our lower elevation lakes kept me plenty busy. Plumas county had 2 confirmed cases of the Covid so I decided that's where I was going to stay safe. My first day there the bass were already shallow and making beds. I don't like fishing the beds so when I located some I backed off and fished about 10 feet deeper than the beds looking for the females. Sometimes we sure found them. I had no idea Almanor had so many big smallies. Also, huge trophy trout were in the top 10 feet of water. From now on, you will find me at Almanor the last week of April!

Let's stay in touch as I often fish alone. I haven't fished Camp Far West in August for smallmouth with crankbaits in several years. Could be a fun trip.

Another version of small world. My Dad was the principal at Bear River jr high for about 100 years and my Mom was a teacher at Beale AFB. I got your number and will reach out to you when it's a good time. Right now it's 7 days a week, 2:30am to 2:00pm at rhe salt mine. No spot for an old man who loves to fish to be in!

That sounds good. I'm on long term disability right now, so just about any time is good for me as long as my back will let me.
