Been fishing the marsh area south of Houma and caught plenty of these reds the last two weeks. The fish are in 2 feet of water and will attack top water early in the morning and spinner baits when the sun is up. Put a few on the grill. Beers were good too.

Can't put too many that size in that cooler. Is it time for a bigger cooler?

Terrible when you have to forgo the beer so you have a cooler of ice for the fish. Nice catch and enjoy the meal.

Not to many Reds in the keeper size here on North Creek just south of Belhaven Tom. Only have had one and the 15" to 17" make you think you got a keeper until that measuring stick says put him back. I heard most are be caught on the Pam and Pungo.

Hey there Dad could you explain the reds on the half shell for us ‘mountain’ men. I love oysters on the half shell with a dash of Tabasco or a little horse radish or sometimes both. Thx for explaining to this old fart.
You talking about Rocky Mountain Oysters? Can't do them on the half shell...by the by love oysters the same way...
Cooking fish on the half shell...fillet the fish do not take the skin off, I don't take the scales off...just taking the two sides off the spine. I also grill the spine...
oil the un-scaled side of the fish to help prevent sticking...put that on the grill...the skin with the scales acts like a foil keeping the juices in while the fish is cooking. Hate using aluminum foil for anything.
Hope this makes sense from one ol' fart to another...

Just Rocky Mtn Oyster sandwich with sliced jalapeños and spicy deli mustard , or sautéed and added to a western omelette. Good eatin there! 😎
Went to school in Nebraska...talk about culture shock. They had me convinced that Rocky Mountain Oysters came from the fresh water streams up in the Rockies...after I ate a few they told me...hey they tasted great so I just continued eating them...still have scars on my rear end from my first cattle drive...gave the horse a headache...
