looking for some spot too carp fish and suggestions
That's our dirty little secret on here. Nobody likes to admit that they enjoy fishing for and catching carp. But they sure are fun, aren't they? I'm in California so I got no idea where you'd go in RI, but maybe someone will come along. They like rivers and they like lakes and ponds, and they're not very picky about the water quality. Does that help? Welcome to the stage Rich.
Carp are awesome fighters. The are like saltwater blues. Fun to catch and contrary to popular opinion good eating. Big white flaky flesh. BBQ with some salt and onions, good as any other fish. Well, not salmon, but good eating. Treble hook with plain old canned corn and a nice fight and a good meal. Straight up fun.

Might ask this guy.
And welcome to the forum.
Had to fight with my father, three carp hanging off my bicycle handlebars.”Why you bring those garbage fish home?” Until he tried them on the BBQ. The he shut up, cause the bass tasted just the same.
Crab Bait. We throw them in bushes for coyotes..wolves...rattlesnakes and birds to eat. Maybe if been in real clean water cooked fesh if not too large they would be edible. I have heard they are good smoked...BBQ is smoked so more for you.
They’re a major food source in Europe and Asia. You’re attitude is one I’ve encountered and participated in. It’s wrong. “They eat eggs of gamefish” so does every other fish, perch sunfish, cats etc. do you indiscriminately kill them too?
No I just put them back sometimes we catch the Hugh ones we call them chopper blues
They are Invasive here. If they were here forever and not eating the eggs of native fish maybe we would be saving them and throwing Salmon in the bushes. Same with the Pikeminnows they ruin other fish and are NOT native
So if there are five or ten thousand in your lake throwing two or three in the bushes will help? Ridiculous.
The Delaware and Hudson have carp a third the size of your boat and the trout bass and stripers not to mention the shad have no problems. It’s a myth. They don’t eat eggs.
There are invasive species. Carp ain’t one

Here in Utah they’re considered an invasive species. The DWR kills them by the millions here. They ruin the waterfowl habitat.
