Did any hear a loud squeal today. I was out in my building and there on the wall was the biggest spider on the east coast. It was a beastly looking thing. I picked up a hammer and whammy I missed. That booger ran right up my arm , fastest thing ever it must have been wearing 8 PF flyers on its feet. I let out a squeal that probably woke the dead. I’ll bet spirit heard it in California. By the time I got done beating myself that booger was no where to be found.

So did it find it’s way into your bed? Hopefully not. Maybe a Tarantula? If they aren’t wild where you live sometimes people’s ( a kid or something) pet decides to leave captivity. I had similar thing happen but it didn’t get on me just ran right up next to my leg while fishing at dusk. I had same reaction. Yelled and jumped away from it. Me jumping and yelling scared my fishing buddy but right after then he thought it was funnier than beep. I didn’t think it was one bit.

There was Vinegaroons where I grew up in Mojave Desert. They move around like a TopFuel Dragster without the noise. They are pretty big and the speed will amaze you. Hopefully it was as scared of you as you were of it and stays away.

The reason flies and other insects can out run or fly off before you kill them is metabolism rate. Their eyes etc operate at a much higher rate of speed than ours. Visualize a jolly green giant swinging a flyswatter or hammer at you the giant would be in ultra super slow motion in comparison to your reaction speed ( metabolic rate).

Had those in Florence, Arizona also. Didn't mind them so much as the Taranula Hawks. Thse suckers are HUGE! If they sting a horse, the horse will drop to the ground! Bright Orange wings, solid balck body.
In the Movie Blind Fury they had one in it.
"Did you see that?" "Yeah, we have to get one of those!" LOL
Great Movie.

Yes, it's a better weapon, but where was it when you needed
it ? Apparently NOT close to
hand, but a shovel MAY have
been close by and made a better weapon than a hammer ! (Yo !
I'm not thrilled with spiders (or
scorpions) either ! Found a black widow in my bathroom once, at 5:00 AM (in Virginia); wadded up some TP, wet it slightly in the sink for better grip, tossed the spider
in the toilet and peed on it before flushing ! I don't just dislike them;
I despise them !

Was hunting somewhere in Texas a few years ago and was standing looking in the distance for deer then took a couple of steps when this blur right in front of me made me stop and there was this huge spiderweb about 3to4 ft wide and 6 ft tall just bouncing like a horizontal trampoline and right in the middle was a yellow and black spider about 3 to 4 I ches making the web bounce. I guess it was warning me. Another step or two and I would have been all in his home. I probably jumped back 100 yds lol real scary

I had a very similar experience with a snake one time. Didn't climb all the way up my arm before I flung it off, he met the Double bit axe that day.
