For some of us that can't get out on the water this morning and want a fishing experience please read on. If not may the day bring you a story to bring to the stage.

It's 4:30 and decisions to crawl out of bed are a no brainer. Besides you have been laying there since 11pm tossing and turning in anticipation of catching a few today out by the bridge.

Rise and shine even though normal folks are still playing undercover agents with the sheets tucked to their chins.

The smell of the programed coffee maker perks those eyelids up just a little more as you fill that thermos for that early morning chill that's going to awaken you even more, as you step out that garage door.

With a short walk to the waters edge and a glimpse of the sky taking in the dawn sky promising a warmth of the skin you lower your craft into the water like it was your first born child being placed into her mothers arms.

Quietly as a church mouse the river feels your bow break the water at a speed so slow the crabs are passing you.

Arrived now at your spot with anchor in hand and lowered without even a ripple you are ready for that toss to that spot where you just know they lay in await.

First toss in hopes of a strike but yet don't want a strike because of the first toss jinx. That $ 10.00 lure is steadily coming back and yes you want a hit and no I want the next one going thru your mind.

2nd toss a good 30 yards out, the lure gives that light plunk into the depths it goes.

Your eyes wander the surface looking for a swirl while noticing your line has just enough slack for the hopes of a hit.

With a twitch here and there and a reeling that a snail would move faster, you get that slight bump on the line informing you someone wants to meet you.

Within a second your line goes tight and cuts thru the water like a knife going in butter. In the distance you see a splash a thrashing and then your line is headed for deeper waters.

Ever so correctly you pull up your rod not to fast and not to slow, don't want that hook not to do its job.

Left and right that monster is mad, more thrashing and splashing foot by foot your catch is getting closer.

The rod is held high, your heart is pumping faster, your audience of other fishers are cheering you on. And there he is mouth open wide by your craft side, just waiting for his last chance to be set free.

With a dip of the net in he goes head first for you to see what has been your reward for doing everything just right.

The hook is removed with such care, and the fish is handled with grace after all what's going thru your mind do you take him home or release for others to see?

Oh decisions to make, after all you spent the night awake. What do I do with this monster of a trout just over 28" in length with a girth that 2 hands will not partake. But first I look to the sky and Thank the Lord for this beautiful day and a catch to be the one that did not get away.

As I leave this short fishing tale, I hope you all enjoyed this moment and its time now to go enjoy your time on the water.

Oh, plum, that is so beautiful. If you are the author, I'm very impressed. If you are not the author, thank you very much for sharing. Many good memories were brought back while reading it. I could just see you in your yak out there,

Talking about authors, if you haven't seen "Little Women" yet, go see it! If you are like me, and I think most of you are, "birds of a feather flock together", ya know. I hated the first 1 1/2 hour of it and loved the last 1/2 hr. and the last 1/2 hour made it well worth it. People even got up about 1/2 way through it and left.

It's 66* with a high of 71* wind gusts to 25 MPH and a 50% chance of rain.

Good mornin' everyone, and have a nice day.

When a story evokes mental pictures and poignant memories, when it brings a smile to your face and warms your heart that you too have been blessed to live such moments, then it is a story worth holding on to. Thank you Plum, you have given me a better day than it started out to be. Good morning everyone!

Thanks guys. Yes I had one of those fishing in my dreams night and all was first hand accounts except for that 28" trout.

That was shown to me via my neighbors buddy that caught it last Sunday.

Gordon I am a catch and eat guy. Catch and release is only for the illegals that keep me looking for the keepers.

Reminds me of when we used to Salmon fish at the coast for 4 days straight when the good incoming tides are at crack of dawn. Gotta try and sleep and it’s hard the first night especially. Sounds like fun PB

Yeah, PB , but you fish the salt !
Although I like the salt, I'm more
of a trout and bass guy; release
all bass (after photos if they're
big 'uns), keep trout only when/if
they're not likely to survive !
Besides, no longer just a 45 min.
drive like back home; from here
it's 5 -1/2 to 6 hours to the
nearest beach, definitely a long-week-end trip ! Go get 'em, PB !
I'll just have to enjoy the salt
(catching and eating) vicariously
through you, Flyguy, and a few others until then !

I could turn that story from salt to fresh in a hurry Big A, but just wouldn't be the same. Real life story there and the way most are reading it makes one feel like they were in my shoes. That was my intent, glad you and many more enjoyed it.
