Probably not unless you want to fish the LA river.

It’s a concrete canal. I’d assume no.

If you wanna catch Carp and maybe some bass and bluegill I'm a cement canal, its not the worst idea.

Don’t bother. There is some “local” trout fishing but in my opinion is not worth the effort. You could fish the salt I guess, but it’s a steep learning curve.

The surf fishing here sucks too unless you want to target small perch.

Absolutely take rods. I don’t know about Fly rods. Can use it in neighboring yards where dogs are present there is usually flies available.

Go ocean fishing. Ca. Just go to a pier and fish off from it. Can go on a boat for 1/2 day whole day.

If you're going to be in L.A. for a long weekend don't bother bringing a fishing rod. I love to fish, but come on. With all the wonderful things there are to do in L.A. fishing is not one of them. Unless, as someone suggested, you want to fish for surf perch. There is a video on youtube of some guys fishing for surf perch with 3 wt fly rods somewhere around L.A. Check it out. Looks like fun to me.

Google deep sea fishing near LA. Probably just use the rods on the boats unless your going pier fishing. You could go see some cool places like Spirit suggested. Venice Beach. Hermosa Beach. Take a beach cruiser bicycle cruise the strand. Get a burger in one place ride to another and have a beer. Maybe a shot of something good at the Poopdeck ( it’s a bar on the strand where the beach volleyball championships are located )

Looks as if the fly fishing equipment doesn't go on vacation with you. Why not visit the local tackle shops and ask some questions..

I agree with the no trout fishing in L.A. BUT if you want to take a drive go up to Oxnard. It’s about an hour north of the Valley north on the 101 or 2 on the PCH. The fishing off the rocks at the Channel Island Marina in Oxnard is awesome. Really easy access clean clear water lots of stuff to do up there too. Also the Port Hueneme harbor is really good. A large ship sank against the rock years ago wall and the fish have made it a home and love it. If you go up the PCH once you get past Malibu the shore/rock fishing is also pretty good.
Anyway have fun.
