Since I can't fish every day since I'll have from 1 to 5 grandkids in the afternoon I find some other things to keep everyone happy. Teaching my only grandson how to make cookies. Costs me a lot of fishing time but I still come out ahead. One day baking then a day of target practice with his bb gun. Fishing happens on the weekend.

Being a papa is probably one of the greatest things ever, teaching them things and spending time with them is just wonderful.

You will have to teach him how to tie flies. Or, does he know already?

I have a 3 and 7 yo Grandaughters and they keep me on my toes when I get them. They are practicing how to cast in the house when GG is not home.

Not a big secret they are gonna make good fisherwomen they already embellish things.

I always tell friends when they have children it will be the best days of your life as they grow through the young and innocent days. When they are asking questions why this why that... how does that work? It’s got to be another round of that type of thing more of some of the best days of your life.

So you ever have to go replace anything in the house rather quickly that got broken by a bad cast yet?

My dad tied a plastic worm (no hook) on the line and showed me the robins. I taught my daughter to do this and she taught her kids that, too. Excellent training. You can get a robin fight started in a hurry.

Spring: I have a rule here about the arrival of spring. 1. The geese have gone north 2. It has rained. 3.The first robin appears in the yard.

The geese go by in early/mid March. Clouds of the critters. Don't stand under a flock of a hundred thousand geese, because it will be raining something.

And...A lot of the Vees of geese have one side longer than the other. After much study, the experts on such things have identified how and why that happens: There are more geese on the long side.

I don't trust the robins anymore since I saw a whole flock of them when I was out cross country skiing.
