Costa Rica is just gorgeous on the pacific side. Dolphins by the thousands. Just a beautiful country.

Costa Rica if you can swing it, if not Islamorada in the Florida Keys.

FSDigest: All the above are fine suggestions, but you might be dollars ahead if you ask your husband what time of fishing trip he would most like to take. You could send him off on a wild goose chase, one he might enjoy but not what he would really want. (Now you will probably want to do this on the sly, but then asking innocent and oblique questions is a wife's specialty.)

As you already know, for some it is the biggest monster in the deep, for others a fish that will jump, and finally there are guys who enjoy the Zen of a perfectly placed fly, their line drifting just so, and catching something is only a second or third important thing on their list! It could be your husband has always dreamed of something he has never experienced! If my wife asked me your question, I would have to give it some long and serious thought, but would probably go back to the Amazon and fish for Peacock Bass! RJS

Alaska July katmai National Park and I believe YOU and your husband would have an excellent time there
Float trip in a drift boat on the Kenai River May through July
Halibut fishing Homer
At least one of you should take a fly fishing if you don't already
but there are so many beautiful and excellent places to fish here I don't think you could go wrong

Striped bass galore in here, and add in Largemouth and Smallmouth Bass, Crappie, and Walleye and you have the most popular spot in Utah, but with 1800 miles of shoreline, you can find a place all to your self

Brent. Thanks that is awesome. When my wife retirees we are heading out west. Hope i can get there. Thanks again

I want fish for Peacock bass and video it. But can you eat them? So many South American fishing waters are so contaminated you may want to where gloves when touching the water let alone eat them.

You would love it. The problem with Lake Powell is there is so much of it, would probably take a lifetime to see it all. It is 180 miles from the dam to the upper part of the reservoir, and then side canyons going everywhere. Striper fishing in the fall is almost unbelievable. It is not hard to catch a 100 fish a day. The average striper is 3-4 lbs. and I like to catch them on my ultra light. They will strip a little line. :) One of the pro tournaments they had there, was out of Page, which is by the dam, and one angler was running up to Hite to fish, which is 150 miles on the lake. I guess that's why they put those 200 pony motors on their boat.

When fishing for Peacock Bass up the Amazon west of Manaus, in the Rio Negro there is nothing but jungle and usually you will be quartered on a house boat. No pollution to be bothered and we had Peacock Bass regularly and they are good to eat equal to anything stateside! RJS

Canadian fishing trip for walleye and northern pike. KaBeelo Lodge. July and August best, but any time you can get there it is great fishing. Just different ways to fish for them according to time of year. We go in July. In 2019 we had 5 guys fish for 5 days and caught 1743 walleye with 60 plus over 20 inches.
KaBeelolodge.com. Have been going since 1988 and never disappointed. Great fishing and great people who run the lodge.

It so depends on your budget. Most Alaska trips are gonna be $800-1000/day plus travel, but imo, worth it for the Alaskan experience alone, plus the opportunity to have your catch sent back home, so that each time you go get a pkg. out of the freezer,.... memory flood....
Spirit would have us in Mongolia, catching taimen 5' long.... & while you're in the neighborhood, (Nepal is next door) throw in an extra $50-100k, and go on up to at least basecamp on Everest ! Lol !

Seriously, I think you need to determine "the buddy" and go from there, he will definitely have some input for you to consider. Please consider yourself for this trip, most accommodate non-fishing guests with exceptional alternative DAY activities (of course, if you hit Alaska at its best fishing... late June to mid August....there ain't much "night" to be had...it was just way too strange seeing toddlers on the playground, Mom's are drinking coffee.....and WE HAD JUST CLOSED DOWN A BAR, THE LAST PATRONS... IT'S 3 O'CLOCK IN THE MORNING !!!! Just starting to "twilight" for a couple of hours, then back to full daylight !!) There are some pkg. bundles that include side trips for everyone, as well.

A side note to those who suggested Tennessee and Texas....she said "trip of a lifetime", not "a lifetime sentence" ! LOL !!
....Sorry y'all... relatives in both states... never considered a visit with them to be "an exotic, memorable locale" I had vacationed.
