What is, in your opinion, the best place in the world for a fishing trip?

If he is a fly fisherman, the Kamloops area of BC is the place. Peace and quiet on the water, mid to late summer, the only sounds, your voice and the loons. Rainbows to 5 lbs, least wise that is the largest I have ever caught, and he jumped into the canoe, no need for the net. Lodges are reasonable, at least the last I knew they were. For scenery, wildlife, and peaceful isolation that's the place.

Alaska halibut fishing. He will love it not just for the fishing but the sights also. What makes a good fishing buddy is someone that is easy to talk with and one that gets excited even if he isn't the one catching the fish.

Thank you for your answer! Funny you should say that because I am also trying to choose which one of his friends would make the best fishing buddy for the trip. None of them is as passionate about fishing as my husband is and I want him to have the best trip possible so it is kind of tough. What makes the best fishing buddy in your opinion?

If I may ask other questions, when would you say is the best time of the year to go fishing in Alaska? Given that he is unafraid of the cold and a real snack for blood sucking bugs, is it better to go in the fall and fish silver salmon?

Depends on what he likes to fish for and when you plan his trip.
Largemouth bass-Florida in the spring
Smallmouth bass- Lake Erie early summer
Trout - Montana early summer
Pike & Walleye Luke of the Woods
Salmon-Alaska early summer
Bonefish - Belezii
Stripers-Nee England summer
So you see it depends on species.

My brother and friends do the salmon run in Oswego N.Y. every year. A challenge and always fun and productive.

My first choice would be Islamabad in the Florida Keys it’s advertised at the sport fishing capital of the world and it truly is I have been there numerous times and twice we rented a house for a week each time And we completely filled 2 4ft igloo coolersEach time with the Fillets. One was filled with wahoo tuna. Both of those times we had our own boat but we also chartered a sportfisher
Bait shops are plentiful and very friendly The Seafarer lounge/mariner has an All you can eat buffet that’s out of this world all types of meats fish and shellfish
My second choice would have to be salmon fishing in Alaska when the king salmon are running people line the banks of the river catching them literally. Charters are readily available. You wouldn’t be able to finish a cigarette from the Time you start out until it winds in the water (Dance if you smoke) Fish smoking and shipping is Pretty good also
Check out online for charters and information and go from there
