The great barrier reef. Big, really big bill fish.

Brown Trout fishing in New Zealand. Fishing in the rivers and streams over there can produce trophy, once in a lifetime fish. When your not fishing there are spa treatments and gourmet food at the lodges over there. It is, the perfect “once in a lifetime trip”.

Alaska for sure, I have been going every year for the last 20. I go to a lodge out of Ketchikan called Cloverbay. You can self guide or take charter for Salmon, Halibut and other fish. It is very reasonable priced for Alaska and family owed. July is the best time to go

Question - what does he like to fish for? Fly fishing for trout? Alaska. Bass fishing? El Salto in Mexico. This besides the saltwater trips already mentioned.
Unlimited options.

What type of fishing does he like? Does "HE" want to do the fishing?
Or, does he want to hire a big boat where the Captain does all the fishing, and you take turns bringing in the fish, which is typical of some salt water and Great Lakes outings.
Unbelievable nobody has suggested Canadian Fly-In Lodges or Outposts for a variety of fishing opportunities in the "wild" where it's truly a "get-away from it all" experience. AND, HE does the fishing in a small boat.

You're right...... that sort of place in the Keys would just attract drunks, outlaws and generally unfavorable people

I feel that port Mansfield Texas is the fishing spot to be. There is great bay fishing for trout and reds then you can fish the gulf for record grouper record red snappers and plenty of bill fish the trick to offshore fishing is to have a proven captain. Bam bam charters has set a few records. It’s pricey but you could do a over night trip and fish like you never seen. Also your only a short distance from South Padre and a lot of fun I’d suggest June as a prime time. Port Mansfield is a small fishing village located in south eastern Texas. I’d be very happy to go with your husband. Hee hee

Where ever you go, I hope he hits a school of fish. No Bait just shiny hooks and as fast as you reel in and cast out you have another one.
Talked to a guy that went out on a charter and they hit a school of Black Fin Tuna. They fished until their back muscles were burning. When the 6 of them got back they each had 5 off them Fielied. They sold the the other 100 and paid for the charter, the motel rooms, the gas for the trip and pocketed the rest of the money. I won't say that his trip will be as good, but I hope so.

British Columbia for salmon was my best fishing trip. Float plane ride into an area with no roads, lodge that was built floating on the water, and the fishing was fantastic. Everyone limited on salmon each day, and one of our guys caught a 212# Halibut, but he was the only one that caught Halibut, but the salmon were strong and put up a heck of fight. Found out what a knucklebuster reel is up there. :)

I was super excited to experience the fishing culture in the Florida Keys and was sadly dissapointed on two separate occasions.

We run 3 trips a day, 7 days a week for 5 months straight on the Lake Michigan. The busiest captain I talked to in the keys ran 3 or 4 times a week.

Our bait shops double as fish cleaners, fish smoking houses, bars, restaurants, convenience stores and general safe havens for fisherman. Nothing of the sort in the keys. The bait shop owners, captains and mates said that its frowned upon locally because that's not a family friendly environment for tourists.

My two cents worth. Bud and Mary's marina in Islamorada Florida keys have plenty of charters to which are back logged up to six months. I go there ever year . and can only praise the bait shops for there knowledge and information on fishing .
