Gordons trip to the store:

There was a bit of confusion at the store this morning. When I was ready to pay for my groceries, the cashier said, "Strip down, facing me."

Making a mental note to complain to my congressman about Homeland Security running amok, I did just as she had instructed.

When the hysterical shrieking and alarms finally subsided, I found out that she was referring to my credit card.

I have been asked to shop elsewhere in the future.

They need to make their instructions to us seniors a little clearer!

Are you sure you meant 'cash
and carry' and not 'concealed
carry', especially since you're hauling your butt around with
all that cash ?

Really tuff to have a concealed carry permit here in Jersey, let alone own a firearm...

Yes, I find paying CASH keeps me on budget & out of trouble with the lovely bride of 41 wonderful years!

Of course, there is the "occasional" inter-web purchase when a plastic card is needed, but that is only after the "Honey-do" list is completed and I've earned enuff cash umpiring, ref'n & officiating to bolster my "Fishin' account" that she keeps as close an eye on as - Gordos wife does on her Liquor cabinet!

Jersey ? Really ? I'm SO sorry !
Actually, I AM sorry; I won't live
in any anti-gun state like Mass.,
N.Y., etc. ! That 's why I've only lived in states like N.H., Va., Fla.,
and Az., where the gun laws
aren't so restrictive ! Shouldn't
be so judgemental, I guess,
since I've only seen Jersey
from the I-95 and/or Newark
airport; may just have seen
too many 'mob' movies !?!
Just joshin', Mickey ! Was just wondering where in hell you caught that big trout in your
photo ! Never heard of trout that size in your area !

Nice trout ! But you needn't
worry about me fishin' your
'honey hole'; I'm W-A-A-AY
across the country ! Been into
and through your state on
several occasions, but haven't
really seen much of it up close !

That guy behind you is probably fishing in the spot you got that one. Seen them kind of fisherman.

Ha! Yeah, I guess those "hole-jumpers" are all over this great country - not just in Jersey!

Actually, it's one of my fishin' buddies & we were sharing this stretch. It was early May a couple of yrs ago on the first morning of our annual "Shad Weekend" camping trip on the Delaware River at Worthington State Forrest. We've been doing this since the early '80s & always trout fish on Friday morning before we set up camp in the afternoon. Then we have SAT-MON to both fish for American Shad and/or trout all weekend. Basically, the same group of guys over that period - a yearly TRADITION!

Here's a photo of us breaking camp after our weekend a few yrs ago - some of the younger guys (sons) were just in early teens when they started - hopefully they'll carry on the traditions & make new memories with their kids...
The second photo is a typical Delaware River Shad, fun to catch on long rods with #4 test. The run usually lasts apprx 2 months +/- and is water temp dependent (50 degrees or thereabout).
Notice my "Forsythia camo shirt"? Mickey's rule of thumb here in Jersey is: when the forsythia is in bloom it's PrimeTime for DR Shad!
