Yesterday I was at my local Wal-Mart buying a large bag of Purina dog chow for my loyal pet, Jake, the Wonder Dog
and was in the check-out line when a woman behind me asked if I had a dog. What did she think I had an elephant? So
because I'm retired and have little to do, on impulse I told her that no, I didn't have a dog, I was starting the Purina
Diet again. I added that I probably shouldn't, because I ended up in the hospital last time, but that I'd lost 50 pounds
before I awakened in an intensive care ward with tubes coming out of most of my orifices and IVs in both arms. I told
her that it was essentially a Perfect Diet and that the way that it works is, to load your pants pockets with Purina
Nuggets and simply eat one or two every time you feel hungry. The food is nutritionally complete so it works well and
I was going to try it again. (I have to mention here that practically everyone in line was now enthralled with my story.)
Horrified, she asked if I ended up in intensive care, because the dog food poisoned me. I told her no, I stopped to pee
on a Fire Hydrant and a car hit me.

I tried that diet too but my wife said I had to stop because she was sick of my barking and taking me out to take a dump in the yard.

Well Hoss: you are just the fellow we are looking for! I’m on the Board for TEJAS Storytelling Assn. and everyone has a story and as long as you don’t lick private parts in public you’d be right at home here!RJS

TEJAS is the Indian term from where Texas got its name! It was supposed to mean “friend” or “friendly”! In later years we discovered there were some jokesters among the tribes and it could have meant Buffalo Patties! Or horse hockey! But it’s too late to change! RJS

The association uses it to be inclusive so folks in other states will feel welcome over being named Texas Storytelling Assn!

We have the International Storytelling Center above an hour north of me in Jonesborough, TN. I think they hold their big convention in October. Storytelling folks from all over the world show up in this little town.

Well BankStalker: Having been our own nation before allowing the other states to join us, we have had an
opportunity to hemoganize the languages; like Spanish, Comanche, Kiowa, Apache, and English and even German and French. It part state pride, and part self defense, so you can tell the difference in a native speaker and a recent exile from say, California. This extends to not only word usage but also how they are pronounced. It's amazing, not only to say comical to see some of these dudes try to dress "cowboy" and still have "bling bling" as part of their attire.

Some years ago, another executive of my company was to guide a Saudi Arabian prince around for a week. the young prince wanted to buy some cowboy clothes. He was informed there are several different styles, just exactly what did he want? The final answer was "Marlboro Man" outfit. Good Choice! RJS
