Metal jigs with single tail hooks!!! Jigs like Crippled Herring, or Kandlefish, not only can be cast or jigged but also trolled. Nose assist hooks on jigs are not effective on the cast or trolled. Reason, single tail hooks act as "rudders" that add to the swimming effect of the lure. Also, the two jigs mentioned are finesse-type jigs that have great action on the drop & troll and are easier to use than nose-assist types. Pete

Refrigerated beer. My grandad was in US Military stationed in a third world country. He showed the fisherman there how to chill their beer with something they already had available...….it was the greatest thing they had ever heard of. Sharp hooks. Test hook sharpness with your fingernail...any hook should poke into your nail and not slip in any direction 360degrees. If hook slips while slightly poked into nail....it needs to be sharpened.
