There is no "best" bass lure just like there is no "best" trout lure. That's the challenge and the attraction for most of us - trying to figure out where they're at and what they want to eat. And to present it so they'll try to eat it. And we've all been trying to figure that out for years and years, and we still haven't figured it all out. And if we ever do we'll probably stop fishing because then it would boring. Watch some youtube videos on bass fishing read couple of books and get out there and fish. Ask some more specific questions and folks on here will be happy to offer their advice.

Welcome to the forum, CBD!! Where in NC are you located? YouTube, Wired2fish and others have alot of videos to watch. As far as lures, it's really to each, his own!! Smaller spinnerbaits, plastic worms Texas rigged or wacky rigged, the list goes on and on. Fishing magazines and videos will be your best info, unless you can befriend someone that you can team up with to learn from!! Best of luck and hopefully tight lines!!

if you become an avid bass fisherman
you will eventually find the lure(whether it be a swimming bait, top water or plastic bait)that catches the most fish.
that will be the best bass lure -----for you

There is no "best" bass lure just like t... (show quote)

I totally concur. Some days certain lures work and on other days they won’t work. It’s up to the angler to solve the puzzle.

Zara puppy in the morning, a plastic worm in the middle of the day, rattle trap in the evening and a spinner bait slow rolled at night...

To many good ones out there to mention.
Plastic worm, crank bait, spinnerbaits and top water, like a Zara Spook, Creek Chub Plunker, to name a few.

The one you present and move at the propper speed, at the proper depth . Think in terms of where , not what . You catch fish , not your lures . They are tools . Use the best tool for the job !!!
