Good morning/afternoon FishingStage friends! Today is a good day, the day the Lord made, let's rejoice and be glad in it shall we?

So today is the day. Today is going to make or break our friend. Saterdays are reserved for a young couple that we mentor, they are freshly married and involved with the Nazarene church up the street. The Nazarene church is where our Celebrate Recovery ministry is.. and the young couple we mentor attends Celebrate Recovery. Now, I have spoke on here about our concerns with CR, the leadership, and active drug use before... it's something that burdens our hearts. Our friends (Teri and Al) agreed to go through a book called "Living Through the Heart Jesus Gave You" a few weeks ago, and we have been studying it with them ever since. This book changed our lives and we wanted that for Teri and Al as well, especially since Teri is actively using heroin, while STILL BEING A LEADER AT CR. Smh. This can not go on anymore, her use is bleeding over into others lives, shes caused a person to relapse with her and shes gossiping about everything and everybody for her own entertainment and to cause drama, or so it seems. Pastor Mike, the Pastor of the nazarene church is fed up as well, but hes on sabbatical at the moment and doesnt wanna drop the hammer until he gets back. However, We plan on intervening... and today.

This is time sensitive. People are dying every day due to substance use, specifically heroin. So Trish messaged Pastor and his wife last night just to be respectful, to let them know what we are going to do, and they agreed that its neccessary but they are done with her. They have been trying to help Teri for the past 3 or 4 years, have sunk time, energy, prayer, and even money in some cases, into her so called "recovery" to no avail. Prison didnt correct her. Overdoses haven't woke her up. She overdosed about a year ago and almost died... her brother was using at her house just two months ago and overdosed, needed narcan to save HIS life. Every person in her life right now is about to walk away. I believe shes right smack-dab in the middle of finding her "bottom", that make or break moment of clarity that brings us to sobriety...or death.

At 3pm they will be in our living room for our Saturday small group. 3:15 after a small time of fellowship, trish and I are holding an intervention. Trisha is a certified recovery coach, so shes about to crack the "recovery" whip today and bring out the big guns, the tools she learned while in certification.

The offer?

Life, and more of it. Not death and sin. The offer is rehab or hit the road... no more excuses. No more denial. It's all about to get real for her. Trish and I formed a plan, involving inpatient detox we already have a bed set up for her.. after 10-14dys there, then its strait to inpatient rehab for AT LEAST a 45 day stay, we would like to see her stay the year, but will not ask her to do so..that may stop her from going, so will let that decision be made from her own accord. Once she has completed rehab, then to the sober house, probably odyssey house. Her husband is very codependent and enables her, so he will probably need some talking down as well.

That's how we would like things to go. They rarely go as planned though, so prayer is necessary to move this along correctly.. we are attacking sin, and the enemy is close to sin. Ill say it again, Prayer is necessary. Please pray with us? That the revelation of Christ and the Truth prevails. That the enemy have NO voice in Teri's ears or mind. That she have a moment of clarity, and allow her to see things for what they are, because shes destroying everything she has, and effectively dissolving her life systematically, and fast. I pray that she be delivered of addiction, in Jesus Name.

We also pray that those in CR stand strong in what we are doing today. No taksy backsies... she needs to realize she is actually losing people. If people keep folding under the pressures of addiction, and under the guise that there are no perfect people, then nothing will change. I pray they stand their ground.

Thank you for joining us in prayer... you are helping someone change their life. You are helping God save a life. This is exciting, and daunting, stuff...literally life or death. Thank you guys very much and God bless you all.

Love and grace abound,
Denny

Denny and Trish I wish you the best in what you are about to do with the intervention and pray that it works.

I do have a question and its only because I have never been involved in drugs much less a cigarette. Your primary focus is on those that are affected by drugs. What I am wondering is what in your area is being done concerning their suppliers?

Just Curiosity E. I am well aware that this is a national problem and there are DL's through out this land and if knowing folks are actively involved where does the suppliers fit into all of this.

I can imagine retribution from a supplier is a concern but I would think there is help out there for that to.

My high in life was being free to run the woods, fish the streams, chase the girls, and not having to look over my shoulder. Never understood why one would keep searching for a higher high, if that makes sense.

It does to me.

But it is spreading to the country.

A lady friend at church is from Tennessee and goes back often to see relatives, I give here a hard time about moon shine even tho she knows I don't drink.
She says they have as far as she knows quit makin shine and now produce meth.

Sad state we are in, in so many ways.

She is not a city girl but a country bumpkin.

It does make sense PB, and I'm sorry to say that in all my experience 20+ years of substance use, I have yet to answer that question. Some say its genetics, others say it's a choice.. others still say it's a product of the environment. As for me, I believe it's all of the above.

Take me for example. I was a diehard junky in every sense of the word. I lived and breathed for drugs, specifically heroin and pills. I had a good home growing up, both parents worked hard and kept us completely stable, neither of them addicts.. they drank, but when they decided to put it down, put it down they did. Me on the other hand, could not. My dad and I are completely different in that fashion, maybe his generation tho, they're some tough birds. I ingested any "high" I could find, screaming "you only live once" with a finger in the air while doing it. Completely disrespectful and a drain on my environment. It took Jesus intervening to save me literally. So, I believe it's a number of things that factor in.

As for the suppliers... they will never go away. The police cannot control it. We as a people cant control it. We have tools in place here that throws a harder sentence at suppliers, but they have to get caught first, which is a hard thing to do because these people are professionals at it, and they're everywhere so if one gets sent up the river, three more pop up in their place.

Trish and I are involved with the local police here in Bay City, and we are trying to get the program "Hope, Not Handcuffs" enlisted... this program allows the user to walk into any police dept or county jail, hand the dope over to the police and be placed into a rehabilitation facility immediately, also allowing for the addict space and time to reveal their dealers secretly without fear of retaliation. It's in its infancy, but the program is promising...

Yes E, this is a very severe problem now. With google and demand for supply, everyone and their families/friends/kids/whatever knows how to cook dope nowadays, it's an epidemic. The house across the street from my church just got condemned because of it...squatters cooking meth pumped too many chemicals in there, which stays in the walls/ceilings/floors ect.. it's too easy to make, the demand is rediculous, and the chemicals used are too easily obtained.. u can literally get all you need for it at your local walmart or tractor supply, and people will just think your toilet is clogged smdh...

When you were a kid, could you have imagined being this kind of conversation? Now, it is the new normal. What kind of creatures have we become? I heard a Judge say something from the bench when a jury returned an impossible verdict: "Today would be a perfect time for the world to just end..."

We resist and the devil never sleeps. Prophecy speaks loud these days.

Fight the good fight. Don't give up. Our side wins in the end.

" "Hope, Not Handcuffs"

Denny I would say Thanks for clearing that up but really there is no clearing. Encouraging that you have a plan with the " Hope Not Handcuffs " arrangement with the local police. It seems it comes down to the user more so then eliminating the supplier. The old saying of leading a horse to water comes to mind. It's a wonder that you just don't throw your hands up in the air and say its their problem.

But really it is everyone's problem even the likes of me that never partook in that crap. Only thing I can come up with is for all of us to speak up. When we see something say something and don't stop there. Follow up on that report until we get the answer. Granted a lot of the times it does and will get swept under the table, that is until someone in a high up position has it effect them.

The Lord may have given you two a mission and prayerfully it will not only spread but it needs to work.

Yes, good news.. a rarity.. it went almost as planned. We had a ton of people praying, you guys included.. as well as 4 other churches, people all over were praying for this because in truth, Teri has a beautiful soul, with a golden testimony resting inside of her. When the Lord is allowed to move, then move He shall...

I love it when this happens.. this is the part where I can actually prove answered prayers. Everyone was praying for revelation and for Gods will to prevail. Teri and Al came into our house, Teri sat down and said "I have to talk to you guys, but I'm not sure where to start.." at the beginning, I said. She said shes been using and she didnt want to disappoint us, but it's gotten to the point that today, actually a couple hours ago (the answered prayers part) she decided on her OWN ACCORD that she cant do this alone and asked us for help. SHE ASKED US FOR HELP! God started working on her as soon as everyone started praying!! God is so good!!

He literally made her mind up for her, before we even challenged her. It blew us away. She said she was trying to find a rehab that takes her insurance and ran into roadblock after roadblock, and she doesnt know where to turn, so she turned to us. That's ok, because Trish and I already had things lined up for her. Smooth sailing today, and we did our part. We will get her to where she needs to be, when she needs to be there.. but we did discuss that we would not work harder than she does, she has to do this, prayerfully and with support, but she has to do it. We will keep her prayed up, and keep her as safe from herself as we can, that's all we can do. I'm super amazed it went this way, because it could have went MANY different ways, but this was done with God, soooo.....

Thank you, all who prayed. I hope this little testimonial strengthens and builds your faith, because THIS type stuff is faith in action. You guys are the best, I'm proud to call all of you "friends".

Peace be with you, I pray love and grace abounds,
Denny

PB, I agree with you. It's a daunting thing to try for a person who doesnt even have the will to try for themselves. Alot of people do throw their hands up and give up. Actually, everyone in Teris life did exactly that...except for us. But this is why we do it. It's our hearts. We have a heart for the broken and lost, because we too are broken and once was lost. I was the person people, even my own parents, gave up on. I lost everything and everybody before my last hoorah, dissolved my life like I dunked it in acid. However, God is good, and He restored all the lost relationships that mattered, and left the ones that didnt in my past, where they belong. Trish too... only unfortunately in Trish's case, her parents passed before her miracle came. She has many, many regrets... but God is good and restored her as well, with spiritual adoption, she has spiritual parents and a church family that would go through hell and back for her. This is why we have the passion for recovery and salvation.. passion is needed, and i think that particular passion comes from heartache and grief.

The only ones that can truly educate are the ones that have lived the life.
Be it addictions, PTSD, and or other struggles.

Other than the Bible and its teachings.

Just my opinion.

Her parents are smiling and are happy witout a doubt.
