You forgot to mention that Felix Percocco, was from Hoboken, N.J. I'm sure you didn't know him but he was a legend teacher/football coach in Caledonia, MN. He had a completely different attitude than any of the locals and it came from the way he was raised. His favorite saying was "You got a problem with that" and the answer would always be "No!"

It's getting to be off season (for fishing) for many of us so we meander to other subjects.

Outside of "never have to pump your own gas", Jersey and Oregon have VERY little in common. Very interesting insight on a state I have only barely been near.... Statue of Liberty (thought it was still NY !?!, hey, I was 16). The references to so many people and malls etc., is reason enough to NOT put it on my bucket list. I realize that you (and MILLIONS of others !) find it appealing, in some fashion, and your rundown of the attributes is good enough for promotional copy in a Chamber of Commerce brochure, but here's the rub........ QUIETNESS is nowhere to be found.
I have read about "party boats", pier fishing elbow to elbow, can't eat what you catch due to water quality, etc., and have a great sadness for your plight. I have often " moved on" when I encounter more than one or two vehicles at a favorite "slide hole" on the river, or a crowded (15-20 vehicles ! LOL !) boat ramp at a lake. My fishing experience MUST always include a bit of solitude with nature, or it is a wasted day, to me. Doesn't mean I don't like company, does mean I find the experience lessened, if I'm having to be concerned about encroachment on another's "space". Just guessing, but I bet that is rarely a thought-pattern for many out there, but 'hope springs eternal' for everyone.
Be proud of your state. Be glad of your opportunity to fish ANYWHERE, at all. Just don't ever expect me to envy your location....I simply cannot. A local NBC affiliate here in the Rogue Valley has a cute quip in a promo ad that goes "How fortunate are we, to live year-round in a place others plan to visit on their vacation week ?"

Tight lines to all, wherever you hail from !!!
