When did you guys really get good at fishing?
I love golf. It keeps some of the crazies off the water & out of the woods when I want to either fish or hunt. I have never stepped foot on a golf course & never intend to but that's my decision. If a pilgram wants to give golf a chance then I say go for it. I believe a man is happier when he associates himself with something. I don't believe that something is time spent in a casino. That's just my opinion.
No argument there, BC ! Although I'm not into it myself, my dad and youngest brother were golf fanatics ! My three brothers-in-
law all play, my (other) brother has played , and I actually went nine holes with dad one time !
(Don't ask my score; all I remember is coming in WAY over par ! Did manage at least one good drive down the fairway, and sank a fifteen-foot putt, which left dad somewhat stunned ! Enjoyed the day out with him, but my favorite hole was (and still is ) the
19TH ! Much happier on the water, thank you !
Gain confidence by starting out with live bait. You'll catch fish and learn patterns that will eventually facilitate the change to lures and plastics. It is how I have started 3 grandchildren and all 3 have become excellent fisherpersons. Be patient and learn the craft.
Never got pro quality or good. I don't care a bad day of fishing is better than a good day at work or having to shop with the wife.
Shopping with the wife can be fun.
Welcome to the forum MW.
One day shopping with the wife is one day's fishing gone forever. Couldn't anything good come of that. I'm sure I can get backup for that.
You got it BC ! Oz, she was looking over your shoulder, wasn't she ? Shopping with the wife can be fun ??? For you, with YOURS, maybe ! You ain't smokin' none o' that thar 'funny stuff', are ya ?
BC's right; a day lost (especially THAT way) is irretrievable - FOREVER !
Big A we've got to look at this shopping business in some way to try & understand Oz's comment that shopping with his wife is more fun than fishing. What were they shopping for? Where would they shop that could be so much fun? only 1 place would have that much potential for fun. Victoria's secret. Now, we're not going to dig up dirt or make accusations, this was serious time for Oz. If a man had himself a fine looking woman, & I'm sure mrs Oz fills that bill, shopping for a bag of "toys" could have been the prelude to a mighty fine day of playing at home with one's new toys. Of course, you & I know how fast the new wears off any toy, except fishing toys. The very next day he'd be right out on the dock looking for a fishing buddy. That's probably how it went. Poor guy.

Had a lot of fun in VS.
Even talked the sales lady out of a button she was wearing but my wife would not let me wear it.
No it is not more fun than fishin but I make due.
I have fun with her that I do no have fishing and vise versa.
Yeah, Oz ! We guessed as
much !As for your 'I make the fun' statement, I wouldn't doubt it, just based on your remarks and retorts here ! Have at it, buddy ! And when you're tired of the toys as BC said,
(or just plain tired from fooling around), we' ll see you back on the water ! (A man's gotta recoup and relax after such exertions, we're not spring bucks anymore ! )
I have never been excellent, but I have been very good at enjoying it

One of our Desert Flycaster members was using a 15 weight flyrod a couple of weeks ago and fought and landed a Marlin about 6'. When you fight one of these, you are too tired to try for another.
Mr. OZ sounds like your lady is sittin next to you and seein what you are saying ,just kiddin of course however I always spent time doing the same , a happy wife is a happy life and when we do get out on the water it's that much better . no wife anymore but comfortable in my own skin . Peace and bent rods !
