I agree with Ron, I’ve been using a Rapala knife for 25 years. No problems at all.

I'd go with a Leatherman multi-tool if you're looking for something for his tackle box. The one I have has needle-nose pliers that are good for pulling hooks out of fish's mouths.

I got a teflon filet knife from Walmart the other day. It is very sharp and does a great job. Very inexpensive also.
